Unmachined hinges=1182 grams.....75% machined hinges=825 grams. 825 grams is 29 oz and change while 1182 grams is a little over 41 oz. I'm thinking that there's a good chance to get this hinge to be 50% of original weight. These things were designed to hold up some pretty heavy doors and my doors are no where near the weight of say an E body door weighs plus mine have been lightened somewhat too.Working on the lower door hinge.....weight reduction Loaded two pics as one might show better clarity. Still have more to do on that one but need to come up with a good way to hold the parts steady in the vise.

They're still in Horse Barn 1 I'd assume? Horse Barn 2 looks like decent temp during the day for sheetrock and mudding.I walked by mine a few times again today. Will do the same for the rest of the week too.

Did a LOT of that to mine over the years. Trying hard to do something on it several times the week at least....I walked by mine a few times again today. Will do the same for the next couple of weeks until the new garage is finished.
There was a guy over on moparts who got his 65 dodge down to 2700 pounds making all kinds of light weight stuff and not gutting it. Can't remember his handle but a very long post.Unmachined hinges=1182 grams.....75% machined hinges=825 grams. 825 grams is 29 oz and change while 1182 grams is a little over 41 oz. Sumtin like dis?Cranky is on a diet. Well lighten up bumper brackets and don't forget what you told me. Nylon bolts and nuts. If you pull the inner lining out you will have to build a lighter one or the center of the trunk lid will bow inward not good. Also pull door panels off and then use whole saw to inner door frames. Then put covers back on.
