I took the afternoon off to do some tree trimming and some cleaning underneath the car. Those flapper disc really cut through the undercoating very quick, messy but quick. More to do but got a good start on it. Need to remove the muffler and fuel line. Still debating on dropping the drive shaft. There is a decent amount of undercoating in the tunnel and there are no rust or holes, so I’ll probably leave it until we get to actually restoring the car.

Drained oil on my 65 Dodge the other day. Today put it on the ground and added 7 qts of oil. Took the manifold plug out to tap manifold vacuum for the distributor.

Fiberglass resin over speaker screen with filler atop that to achieve a paintable surface. The extensions have no torque or stresses upon them so they don't have to be rock solid. The foam is big gap filler and extremely sticky when applied before drying to a solid that takes the shape of the part. Trim fill and finish. I have done so on the door panel pieces and they are solid as can be. The other alternative is low temp welding with materials from the MUGGYWELD company. Mixed results with that route.

Took it for a long cruise through town and surrounding areas.
The new tires really help take advantage of all suspension upgrades and the motor is liking the new intake setup.
Going to head out on another canyon run tomorrow morning to feel it out more.

Headed out to the coast again this AM, left around 6 for about 2 hours worth of driving time.

Took Sepulvida to Wilshire, then out to PCH and up the coast to Leo Carrillo beach...

Heading back, I started to take Kanan Dume to Mulholland HWY to find it closed, backtracked and took another small windy road to re-connect with Mulholland at Las Virgenes.
On that road I passed a newer 911 with a brand new Ferrari in hot pursuit and could tell they were not expecting anything (much less a late 60's muscle car) coming in the opposite direction at an early hour as they were drifting into my lane on a tight turn. Following them was a 1953-4 Corvette rag-top with a 1970 Chevelle minutes later. Those canyon roads and especially Mulholland HWY have all manner of vehicles (2, 3, 4 wheels) driving on them, lots of burn out marks and doughnuts visible.

With the new 2" drop spindles and 17" Nitto 555's the car did really well.
The sooner I get the Procar bucket seats in, the less I'll be sliding around and will be able to take a lot of corners / curves quicker with far less braking, hopefully that'll happen before the year ends.

The motor is as strong as ever, past 3k rpm and I'm flying down the road passing everything.

Installed the right side fuel filler neck in the fuel cell which hooks up with the right pop up tank cap up on the top of the quarter panel.

Replaced fuel sending unit, then pulled it back out to adjust the arm

Spent all afternoon and into the evening on a hot day swapping the left front strut and drive axle on the Grand Cherokee. What a miserable design from a service perspective. The strut traps the axle and the axle traps the strut. I'm paying someone to do the other side. Way too hard on the back working on the floor with hand tools at my age.

Driving the Coronet as long as I can keep the fuel filter cleaned out. Had to work on my exploder. 4.6 Fords like to pop out the spark plugs, I’ve heli coiled 3 the past couple years. Found out why it hasn’t felt like it’s been running right, Check engine came on again, scanned it at oriellys. Multiple misfires, no other info. Late yesterday I started pulling plugs out, one pulled the helicoil with it but I was able to get it back in. Pull a couple other plugs just fine. Then another fixed plug, again the heli coil pulled out. ordered some new heli-coils last night. Be delivered tomorrow. Good thing I don’t have to drive much right now.

Changed parking light lens on my 66 Satellite. The NOS one that I took the nob and reflector off and added clear silicone to keep from it cracking didn't work. Did the same to the other side NOS lens still think I added a little more silicone. The one that cracked the center was loose and the vibration of the center cracks the lens. Put a repop in but didn't use the black gasket OEM were grey. I can't see any difference from NOS except the gasket, now to see if repop cracks. Anybody have any info on that??

85 degrees already. I’m trying to get more of the floorboard cleaned off. Had to remove the drivers side exhaust and found 1/3 of the collector gasket gone. Gonna be a long day. Hoping to spray bomb it tomorrow morning.
