I washed my 73 Charger and found out that the car is white! Then I got my 71 Challenger convertible out of winter storage. Tomorrow I will get it on the lift to see if I can find out what is causing the getting increasingly worse driveline vibration. Last year I worked so much that I never got to take it out last year!

Pumped 3+ quarts of oil into trans with a hand plunger pump. That was better than squeeze bulb pump but no picnic. Triceps haven't used them that much in 30 years. They're aching now. Of course one good squirt for the floor.:mad::mad::BangHead::BangHead:

 I laugh because I can relate. :)

Spent most of the day yesterday stripping my parts car, It has been a gold mine for hardware and interior trim and screws.

Checked on Satellite at paint shop- said it would be done Friday.

Installed trailer hitch on Renegade-

Q- what's the last thing you'd think you might have to remove to install the wiring harness for trailer lights?

Dakota developed a sticking LF brake caliper. Other side did it about 10 years ago.
Guess that will be my next project.

A- the windshield wipers!

A- the windshield wipers!

OK, you have to explain this one. You are right, that is one of the last things I would expect would need to be removed!

The harness runs the length of the vehicle.

It splices each rear light harness like "normal" then has a plug in module that goes in the spare tire well, then goes under the driver's side door sill plates, branches off to a connector under the dash, and continues up under the hood, where it interfaces yet another connector under the cowl cover that can only be removed after taking off the wipers.....then they give you a large pin and some silicone so you can pierce the main harness boot and run another under the dash.

Not sure why you have to go under the dash both ways.

The hitch it's self wasn't exactly fun, but the wiring borders on ridiculous.
"Remove sheet metal bumper with plastic mounts, replace with 5/16 square tube hitch and secure with grade 9.8 bolts" was easy enough.

"Remove wheel well trim and fish out broken push clips from cavity inaccessible from either outside, or inside" was kinda stoopid.

...and then "either cut existing fascia exactly the correct shape including slots for push lock clips, or buy new fascia pre-cut" was not looking too fun. I found a pre-cut fascia for $400 less than FCA wanted and bought that. Went on fine but...you still have to cut the bottom portion of the old fascia which is made with the push lock clips molded in, IE designed to be cut out and reused!

Hitch N/A with 1.4T manual in US but is in Europe.
Guess FCA doesn't think we can tow with that combo here.

So I bought struts and strut mounts for the Grand Cherokee and was going to put them in but decided that it did not make sense to spend that much time under the vehicle and leave in 97,000 mile axle shafts and bearings. So, I punted the job down the road and ordered more parts. Now the parts are here and it's started to rain so I may get another week before I have to deal with it.

Started cleaning the Underside of the floorboard on the passenger side. Lotta old undercoating slopped in the front torque box.

Checked my front outer wheel bearings conditions (fine) and retorqued both spindle nuts at 90in-lbs. Was a lot easier back when we used a hammer to removed dust caps. Tire wear looking good on my Goodyear Redline Raceways. Snugged up my weeping rocker covers and :praying: that stops the drivers side from leaking and noted after 204 fairly hard miles, power shifting all the way, there is yet to be any discoloration or burning off of the VHT Cast high heat paint I baked onto my HP manifolds. Ready for another cruise... :steering:

I use a rubber hammer to remove the dust caps and a PVC plumbing cap to tap them back into place.

I installed a water pump and 160 thermostat from FlowKooler. Temps went from over 200 F to around 190 F idling in 95 F weather. I call that a win. Time and money well spent. I have the old/new Hayden 6 vane/blade water pump and Stant Superstat if anyone wants them. Just pay for shipping from 73160.
