What did you do to your Mopar today?

Yup, Houston can be brutal this time of year, don't know how ya'll can live there. When I was there I had mushrooms growing on my nuts during the summer it was so freakin hot and humid. Corn starch was my friend back then..
On the bright side it's only a couple of more weeks...maybe with global warming and all...:realcrazy:
Right now even north Texas is getting blasted with 100+ temps. A friend in Lubbock said it was 108 there yesterday. Yeah, dry heat though lol but it's only 95 here so far.

Come over to AZ been 110plus for several days now. But have a cool down coming dropping down to 108 great news.

What's your heat index or do y'all have one lol. 95 @ 50%=107 and it does feel like it too. Hard to believe my laptop survives out here in the shop. Think I'm heading into the house for a bite to eat and kick back until later on. Worked out here from 6 until 9 last night and it felt pretty decent with a good breeze going on. Need to clean up my milling machine and may as well get that over with.

Took me about 8 hours of working mostly solo to get the engine back in the car, but it's there! It was quite a day, I wrote it up in my build thread:

https://www.forbbodiesonly.com/mopa...r-t-clone-refurb.174381/page-7#post-911613055

but here's the result:

I've been a one man band from the beginning of working on cars! Worked shift work so much that there was usually no one around to help. Had a room mate in 1970 that was a car freak too and he helped me with my first engine swap.....

We have this on one of the Mustang sites I frequent. Basically post up what you did to your B-Body today. Whether it be paining, cutting, modding, etc. anything goes. Feel free to ask questions as well.

(Mods move if wrong spot)

I'll start:

Took the rear bumper off my '71 Charger. I'm working on removing all the brackets, lights and such. It's fun thus far since I've already broken two bolts. The PB Blaster and breaker bar are getting a work-out. It also bit me again - that's the fourth time this bumper has bitten me - deff. time to get it fixed. I need to find a chroming place nearby to redo the bumper, it's peeling and extremely rusty.

Anybody recommend a place near North NJ?

Post up guys!
What did my molasses do on my parts today? Removed all the rust without any elbow grease. I just hosed it off and sprayed on some metal prep. And DONE!

How long did you leave them in the molasses? I left a part in some vinegar.....too long lol. It was a test part at least. Wasn't doing all that well so put it back in and then forgot about it.

Washed off the bird poo, did a burnout with the kids then went fishing. Waiting for it to cool off a bit then more body work.

Hung the rear bumper one last time to check clearance on the bottom outside corners of the Quarter tail extensions. Also because the bumper doesn't mount directly to the 70 Road Runner brackets. There are spaces in-between each bracket tab and the rear face of the bumper. Each one is different. What I have done, each time I have had the bumper on the car, is use various sockets to fill the gaps. Adding washers etc. to get it fine tuned. Now that I have it exactly on there and lined up correctly I will remove each bolt and record the gap width. Then before I remove the brackets from the body cross member I'll drill two locating holes in each one so when I go to reassemble it later it wont be a PITA. The sockets will be replaced with metal spacers cut out of 1" thick wall pipe. I'm going to construct a cradle for the bumper so I can hang it by myself without smacking up the freshly painted body. Adjustable height locking casters on the bottom. The two holes on the bottom edge of the bumper that are supposed to bolt to the ears on the brackets are out of alignment vertically AND lower than the ear. So I need to cut and bend two little connectors that are step shaped to get those bolted up as well. So, it's been a day of fooling around and trying to get it right. It came out good though. Still need to lift the right end about 1/8" too.

How long was too long, Cranky? And what happened?
I had good success with vinegar with a pair of 8 3/4 axles.

It left it rough but it wasn't rough before. It was a rear end yoke that had some surface rust on it and I left it in there for about 4 days lol. Oh well.....it was one that I had drill all the way through for those aluminum U-joint girdles that turned out to not be a good idea.

Got the gas tank cleaned out. Sending unit back in. Couldn’t believe all the fine stuff in the tank. I keep taping moist shop towels to a yardstick to try to clean it out. Should be putting it back in this afternoon. Then clean out the fuel filter and carb again.

Talk to me when you have 100% humidity, and it's NOT raining.

...coupled with 100 degrees.

It happens in FL.

My 95 Dakota had about a gallon worth of what looked like white sand in the tank about 10 years ago. It was real fine stuff. If you have never worked in a refinery and had the chance to work in or even just look into a gasoline storage tank, then you you're missing out on a wonderful sight! lol

I live 9 miles from Galveston Bay and the prevailing breeze is pretty much right off of it. We don't get many times when the temp is 100 with 100% humidity since hot temps dries out the air somewhat but 85 at night with 100% happens too often and that is bad enough lol

Finally started shooting the Burgundy Metallic... doors, fenders, hood and trunk lid. Body will be tomorrow or Monday.
