What did you do to your Mopar today?

Got em aimed last night, drove around and took an informal poll from other drivers "am I blinding you?" As always, oncoming drivers were more than happy to let me know by flashing their brights at me...brought em down little by little until I could drive a good ways with no flashes from other drivers. Good visibility, good spread...its like a real car!

Got a chance to mount the Optima battery tray in the trunk.
Also installed the master cylinder and the lines to the proportioning valve.

Finished the headlights. My LED high beam bulbs showed up yesterday but it was pouring rain for 36 hours, so....

But, I got it out tonight and aimed them

Nothing like a 50 year old car with modern lights!

Drove to work today. Coming home, 87* outside and the engines buzzing 3500 rpm on the freeway; with 3.55's it could use an overdrive. But the temp is running cool. Using a Glen Ray rad with a 7 blade fan and clutch.

I took my '67 R/T to our Mopar club's first meeting since last September. We held it outdoors at a local Canadian Legion patio to abide by local Covid rules. About 40 members present. I kick my ***, because I forgot to bring my camera. Lots of the guys brought their special cars out. Besides my R/T, following cars were there: 1969 Superbee with 493 stroker
1971 GTX 440, 4-speed, Air Grabber hood
1971 Superbee Hemi, 4-speed
1970 Challenger T/A 340, 4-speed
1969 Charger R/T 440, automatic
1970 Chrysler conv., 383, automatic
1956 Fargo pickup, 318, o.d. automatic
about 6 newer Challengers
I also invited my new neighbour to come to the meeting and bring his car. 2016 Charger SRT. Now has 426 stroker with Whipple supercharger, built transmission and rear end. Runs low 10's in 1/4 mile.
Again, sorry for no pictures.

While wiring my dash, I was hard pressed to figure out how to support the weight of the harness. I did finally realize that I was missing the wiring trough/tray that should have hung from the underside of the dash frame. A previous shop painted my dash and not only lost most of the fasteners, but also the wiring trough. So, I ordered one off of Ebay, cleaned it up, and put it in. Now there's something to support the weight of that harness.

Apparently my "hot rod shop's" decision to just drape it over the steering column was less than optimal.

Took both the cars out and finally hooked up the vacuum advance and set the timing on them so it doesn’t ping. There also may be some extra rubber on the asphalt but who knows how it got there.

That is one beautiful pic!

We’ll 5am this morning was test and tune morning on the highway. Got the dads stroker dialled in quite well. 2.94 gears and has absolutely no traction with the street radials. We’ll see how the Mickey Thompson sportsman’s do when we put them on next week. I’m glad we didn’t put the 3.55’s back in or even 3.23’s. It really pulls well out of the gate. Hopefully COVID restrictions lift here and we can try it out and the new 1/8 mile at the airport their supposed to have this year. I’m curious to see how it will do.
The car runs about 2300rpm down the highway at 65 MPH and has a 2100 stall converter. Seeing as how this is just a torque monster and it doesn’t do much in town driving think I should try the 2.76 gears? Or think I will be under stall speed and no fuel mileage gains. We haven’t checked the mileage on it since the vacuum advance is now hooked up. It has 50* all in now and no pinging so I’m hoping to get 15mpg…?? But just wondering on your guys’ opinion if I’m wasting my time trying for that extra 1-2mpg with 2.76? Think it will feel doggy? Right now the car feels like a car with a stock 440 with 3.91’s. But it’s got the stroker with 2.94. Let me know your thoughts. Took this picture after the test and tune at 6am.

What rpm is the torque peak for the engine? Sometimes dropping engine speed down doesn't really help. For example, my neon got better gas mileage at 70 mph. than it did at 60, just because it ran closer to the torque peak. Mind you, it was more aerodynamic as well...

Max torque was 621 ft/lbs at 3500 rpm.
Had 500@ 2100 and 550@ 3000.

ya I had a 88 lancer that got better mileage at 75 then 60. Might be something to consider. Thanks

Finished installing Viton valve seals. dual springs & 10* locks & titanium retainers. Bolted the head onto the block and torqued it down. Degreased a valve cover and sanded it down, sanded down the seal rail surface as well. Primed and painted with VHT High Temp Wrinkle Black paint and set it on my MOPAR drying rack...lol.

After the big move North 5 years ago, getting set up on our acreage and new home, building a shop, kids finishing high school and graduating, I finally have the bug to drive my old 68 Chrysler Town and Country wagon again. So tossed on some insurance last week and took it for a drive...it had been 6+ years since I had insured the wagon...where does the time go!

Last night after diner loaded the family in the wagon and headed down to the ice cream shop.

I started cleaning up the underside of the Air Grabber set-up.
I sanded the tops of the mounting bosses flat so that the studs will sit properly when installed.
A few little fiberglass goopies to sand down &

remove.
Plus its a good idea to do a fit-check to ensure the mounting bosses are short enough that the whole thing sits properly on the hood.
I do have some sanding to do on the 4 tapered bosses at the back of the assembly.

Had my windows tinted with this new nano ceramic technology by formula one (I chose Stratos line) tint, local shop did a great job. I went with 50% all the way around to keep it legal here in VA, It's not this dark in real life, must be reflection from morning sun. I did this because I installed classic air two years ago, it blows ice cold air but I have to keep it on max just to keep it bearable when it's over 90. They claim it reduces heat transfer by 80%. It supposed to be sunny and upper 80's today, good day to test it out.
