Tonight I’m changing the trunk bumpers, door bumpers and hood bumpers. During the 20+ years since I last replaced them, they have turned to stone…

The local little longtime car club has a monthly at the Subway, so we decided to infiltrate. !

People get a kick out of the wrasslin' match that is backing Fred into a parking space. :)

Sing along with me!
"One of these things is not like the others...
one of these things does not belong!"

Started my rebuilt 440 for the first time
Was totally amazed that all the parts that came from many different places played nice together as I started with a bare block and had to find everything else
Pulled the distributor and oil pump drive gear out and made up a rod to go into the oil pump that I could spin with the electric drill
Got it all primed up and distributor back in
Added some gas to a can hanging on the inner fender to feed the fuel pump
Cranked it over with no power to the coil yet till I could see the gas in fuel fitler
Cranked it a bit more to get some in the carbs
Poured a little gas down the middle carb and added power to the coil
Engine turned half a turn and it was running
Was a good guess on where to set the distributor
Now to get some water in the rad and let it run and warm up
It is running in this picture but hard to tell without a fan blade on it yet

Got my rack back from Unisteer last night. Rebuilt, parts replaced and sent back home for free. The rack and pinion units for B-Body was disconnected in 2019. They were great to me when I needed help and I won't forget it.

Gee...been awhile since posting here! Got my car down off the 15" tall cribbing and moved it out under the carport behind the shop. After cleaning the mess that accumulated under it I continued to clean all the dust and crap that accumulated ON the car....then hung the front fenders. The fenders needed to be on it....could hear them crying for the car. Thought the doors were in a pretty good position but wrong! Oh well. Digging out the glass hood from the box trailer will be the next feat but probably not today as it's getting kinda warm already.

Opened the box and it's a new rack and pinion unit. I called just a little bit ago and asked what happened. She said the machinist looked at mine and then went and found ONE on a shelf left from when they sold them. He asked Tracy, the gal that works there that I've been working with, if he should even bother rebuilding it, she said, send the new one. I told her I didn't get the tie rod outer ends. She went back and found my old ones and a new set and is sending them to me. I asked her how much I owed her, she said nothing. I told her to make up a receipt for 50 bucks and buy everyone donuts. She laughed and said, no way! This company, Unisteer, is incredible and I will never forget it!!

Yup, THIS is why 72 Blue will not run. Replaced unknown age fuel pump (4#) with new one, 6 1/2#, much better. Carb soaking over night

Installed the fan shroud on my 96 Dakota today after replacing the water pump......last summer! :D Usually I can get the fan to spin on these things but this time I had to remove the belt and spin the pump to get the threads started and it zipped right on.
