What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

I've been in Ft Myers for the past week, re-habbing my wife's retirement getaway. It got quite a punch, from Hurricane Ian, last October. Been chasing materials, and replacement items, to get it roughed in, and loveable again. Replacing the electrical panels, and upgrading, insulation, drywall, paneling, lower cabinets, and some much needed structural repair. It's quite nice down here, compared to back home, this time of year, but I thought I was past working these 10hr days when I retired years ago...

After working on my Satellite...I got a wild hair and started cleaning my shop and parts storage.

Short history - my house/garage were built by a custom home builder, for himself and his family and construction equipment. My garage is built like a bank barn - 3 doors below, 2 cars deep; unfinished (stud walls, no drywall, no insulation) 2 bedroom apartment above; 40x40 workshop behind (same level as the "upstairs"). I keep parts in the apartment section.

My..."accumulation" has gotten out of hand, so I had to purge a lot.

I had a small section that I used for household work and rental renovations - electrical parts and tools; plumbing parts and tools; drywall parts and tools; stuff like that. I cleared one small room (a closet, or laundry room, I think) of some parts. It backed to the room I'd been using for household stuff (a bathroom, maybe). I removed the studs between them, opened up the space, mounted and wired a flourescent light fixture, and relocated my household stuff to the far side so I had more room to move; more room to store stuff; and room to move stuff (like the 5.7 hemi on a cart) out of the workshop/garage where the wagon and my Ram 2500 live, so I have more room in there to move the (very large) car and truck around, as well as more room to work on whatever needs work. I also relocated my Wrangler's back seat, my engine crane, and some other larger items out of the workshop and into storage.

And I found some old parts for cars I no longer own, and have some already sold to a buddy who does have cars like the parts (Spirit R/T turbos from '91).

Had parts of my head ground off.

(tooth to prep for a crown)

Started drinking.

Well first I had to learn how to read ladder logic programming in German . Next was to dig out my metric phillips head screwdrivers and last source replacement bolts for metric left hand fine thread...

Recovered from a 3 day cold.

That's 3 in 12 months, 2 in 4 months, or 4 in 12, 3 in 4 in you count the mild covid.

Dang!
Dad used to get a cold a lot....turned out to be allergies.
Got the ceiling and lights done in the wife's exercise room! Soon she'll be sweating to the oldies watching Richard Cranium Symmonds on television!

Oh man, after getting flooded in my first house 3 times I decided to move out of it and glad I did. What I got was nothing compared to what Harvey did to it a few years ago. So far I've been high and dry in my 2nd home of 39 years and feel blessed!

Uh whathahey.....??

Every time I get my shop squared away and good someone in the neighborhood has to 'purge' their hoarding tendencies and the neighbor across the street decided to do that in the last few days. Lots of good stuff he put out on the street which now resides in my shop lol. Anyone need a good small air compressor?? How bout some tools?? All that and more and some of it is ending up on my beater Dakota for a scrap run in the next couple of days. Was about to do some welding on my car when this happened but well, I needed something else to work on :( Got a couple of good extension cords from the mess too.....hard to believe what people will throw away and wonder how much of it he will wish he has back.

Now I got seven crowns.

Average life between failures 5-8 years.

Not terribly comfortable having one cut off.

...and not terribly comfortable on the wallet, either.

But Dentist (who I trust implicitly) says having "real teeth" no matter how much of them is actually still real, is much better than having any type of implant or denture.

When I lived in Ohio, I got at least three colds every year.

It's been better in FL.

This last one could have been allergies, although I am typically not really allergic to anything that bothers typical people with allergies.

I've also found that- people who get frequent colds generally don't have allergies and people who have frequent allergic episodes tend not to get very many colds.

How's that for one of life's little humorous facets?

Used to think I got colds a lot but it turns out the problem was pollen and lots of times it would turn into a sinus infection if I didn't do something about it and getting a sinus infection more than twice a year sucks. Took me years to figure it out and started using stuff like Allegra and Benedryl. At least it's over the counter now.....and haven't had a cold or sinus infection in over 25 years now and no, I don't take it every day but there have been times where I had to double up on the stuff. My dad was the same way only he seemed to always have a cold until I sat him down and explained what he needed to do/try. My kids are the same way only they don't listen to anything I say. I understand that FL has similar pollen seasons as the area here and the pollen season is pretty much all year long. There's times when it spikes and times when it's really low but there seems to never be a time where it doesn't exist for longer than a week. Do your sinuses start flowing when you eat? That's a sign of a mild food allergy and is also pretty common. Having severe food allergies suck too but so far, I'm ok there but some things will give me a mild sore throat. Pistachios do that if I eat more than a few and man, I love those things. Walnuts do the same thing but I can do without those. Pecans are ok.....
