@YY1...you're a man after my own heart!:thumbsup:

I stop and grab stuff along the road as well and scavenge in our waste transfer station all the time. The other night I scored a box of misc and there were about 10 brand new still in boxes sealed beam headlights...couple 5x7, 4 for a quad rectangular headlight system, couple 3" round fog lights etc, plus a propane heater, a pressure washer wand soap dispenser system still new in the package, bunch of scrap aluminum from old chainsaw bodies, nuts/bolts/washer/screws etc.

Caught up with the events here over the past week while munching on a Butterfinger. Gonna fill my rum up shortly and check out @toolmanmike 's thread about whiskey. :drinks:

Just for the hell of it, I just priced that Oak board at Lowes (remember the one I found in the dumpster...)

$65!

That steel plate is a bit heavy, but the first thing I thought of was- that would make a nice "throw that down on the dirt, for the motorcycle kick stand" plate.

Last night-

Installed my mini-boards.

MUCH better!

I got a matching set for the back, but they really won't go on and still be able to fold up.
Wife says she likes the pegs better anyway. I wonder if she's humoring me.

Butterfinger and whiskey.

I like it.

They have peanut butter whiskey at our local ABC.

Try it and see if you like it. I about barfed when I took a sip.

However...

This was surprisingly not bad.

First sip was a shock but after a bout three, I thought it would go good alternating with a Guinness.

We have had a few DEF sensors fail, ends up getting a replacement tank (sensor is plastic-welded to tank). Could also be a heater, could also be a leaking injector line - any white crap under the hood? Passenger side firewall area? The line runs from there to center-grille area...

Underhood is clean. I'll look closer today at lunch, as I did just a general look-around, nowhere specific. But you gave me the info I need to look better and where, thanks!

Had a little bit of a leak after redoing the incoming piping to the house and turns out that the union needed a bit more on it. Doesn't seem to be leaking now but not going to back fill the hole yet. Also pulled up two more root balls and dug out more dirt and planted a few sprigs of grass under the oak tree near the driveway. Left the leaves laying there from the fall too long and well, oh well. Thinking about taking the day off today or at least most of it....knees and back are saying 'nuttin today'!

We had an incoming plumbing leak last year.

Had to hire a specialized "sniffer" to find it and then pay a plumber to basically dig it up and put in a 4" 3/4" PVC saddle.

NOT cheap.

Now that I know where it is, if that ever happens again, I'll do it myself.

It WAS about 40 inches down. Not sure why.

...and this happened during a time when our meter was malfunctioning and reporting ZERO water usage.

What are the odds?

I our lines were at that depth no one would have water in the winter.

When I bought this house, it was just a house only on an undeveloped 1/2 acre lot. Had to bring in 40 truck loads of dirt just to get things decent and somewhat level. Even the city 'required' minimum driveway (10' x 40' for this size lot) had to be jackhammered and hauled off because it was too low and slanted towards the house and would have held water had I added 10' beside it. Wanted a double width driven. Also, the step down from the front porch to the ground (no walk ways anywhere) was a good 18". Add to that over the years another 6-8" of mulch, dirt etc that my wife wanted to add for flowers beds 'curb appeal' bs, the piping that needed to be dug up was 30" down. iirc, city code is no less than 18" deep for inlet water service and that's about where the water meter is.
I'm sure there's a code for that, somewhere, on some municipality's books...
Yup, most cities have a code....(see above), mine is much deeper because of all the dirt that needed to be brought in so the yard wouldn't hold water for days after a hard rain. This area still had open ditches back in 84 and even with that, the front yard didn't drain. The water meter is about 18" deep but the ground was higher where the line in is than the rest of the front. Also there were no trees here at all except for one that a storm half way blew over and no one tried to stand it back up so it got cut down shortly after buying the place.
