What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Active Shooter at Corewell Beaumont Hospital in Michigan

We were there and very surprised as to what occurred and also concerned. The wife had a scheduled Chemo Infusion for 7 am and we arrived at the hospital at 630 am per usual. The Immunotherapy nurse was just getting ready to hook up Susan(my wife) for her Alimta(chemo) sequence when we were alerted to the active shooter notice. All supervisors and leaders were very efficient, calm, organized and thorough with their fellow workers and patients in securing the floor. We were on the 3rd floor. The shooting actually occurred in the South Parking Garage. It was not very long before police were already on our floor. They were doing a room by room search and asking many who they were and why are you in the hospital. After they cleared the search, business could restart as usual. So it ended up 6 hours at the hospital vs 2 1/2. Eventually they caught the shooter at his house. Turns out the shooter and the person he shot was his best friend and they both worked at the hospital in the Radiation Dept. Seems they got into an argument. Its a shame that this happened.

Best wishes for a full recovery to your wife.

In between car work and tractor work today, I'm also doing some computer and network stuff.

Adding a NAS (Network Attached Storage) unit and upgrading the hard drives in another unit. It's taking a while with all the data moves and switching around. These are older units, but serve my purpose, sort of like my older cars. Total storage here with all four NAS units running RAID5 is about 46TB.

Also building and adapting a computer motherboard on the bench prior to moving it into an enclosure to replace another motherboard that is running, but has issues, plus I will be shifting some hardware (graphics card, ESATA storage adapter cards, eight solid state drives [SSDs], 12 ESATA connected hard drives in external enclosures, power supply, et.al.) from the prior motherboard to this one which is an old Xeon system with 128GB of memory. Slowing getting this "new" one together and tested while preparing the old system to receive it. It's a bit messy here, but it's temporary.
