What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Actually I didn't, fortunately I had the 7 2x6x16 left over from when I redid the property fence some years ago (put plastic fencing in). But your point is still valid; cost of lumber is stupid right now.

I did battle with some 6" front lawn tractor tires. After messing with removal and install I couldn't get the first to get enough air to seat it.
Took it over to my buddies down the street he has a blaster you set in the bead opening and it fires massive volume in there and voila!
I thought I was finished as the second one already had a tube.
Filled it with air but I must have punctured the tube with an iron leaks out the stem hole, you can hear it.
Crap! Still not done.:cursin:

Update: Stuck a new tube in the second one after work today for the win.

If I have trouble getting the bead to seat, I put a ratchet strap around the tire and tighten it to push the sides out.

Tried that with two different straps. Had kind of a dent from stretching it on.
Just couldn't get it to go.
I also tried some cleaner and a grill lighter which usually works but it only popped the first time and it caught on the grill lighter.
Just one of those evenings...

Git 'er done!
Lol!! All done! Pic from the “crows nest” as we call it lookin 100 yds down the lane! We just seeded it for the season! We’ll see how it comes in!

Argued with a '73 Honda CB350F for a while - buddies son's bike, kid took it apart then left it when he moved to California. I almost have it running. Well...I do. I can get all four cylinders to run, just not all at once. Carbs have been bitchy, gaskets all leak, and it looks like (now that I have the other stuff sorta behaving) I have one bad spark plug. For a pile of parts and no manual (I did manage to finally find one online)...i think that's pretty ok.

When I found the bad plug I gave up, grabbed my range earmuffs, and made sure my Hellcat is still properly sighted in. I have my permit recertification tomorrow, better safe than sorry. I haven't been shooting much lately with the price and (un)availability of ammo, so I wanted to make sure I could still see straight! Turns out I was drilling the 8" plate just fine at 10 yards...I don't expect any issues at the range tomorrow with the silhouette targets :)

And, the smell of Hoppe's is always a great way to finish the afternoon!

I have a 78 yamaha xs1100 that has not run in over ten years. About Feb I pulled the head resealed the valves then replace some dried up seals and gaskets. Well today I finished making a new exhaust system using some old Harley mufflers I have laying around.
Put some gas in and fired it up for the first time in years. The petcocks leak though,I ordered new ones

Finally got hold of some hedge plants and managed to dig them in yesterday just before winter and the rainy season. Been so long looking like a wild jungle that it looks awesome to us. Also checked out the local garden center for some more small filler plants.

My new shrubbery.....

And potential plants for the front. Lawn will be levelled out later on... 20210523_143343.jpg 20210523_143418.jpg 20210523_143951.jpg 20210523_143745.jpg

In the next week or so I will trim the edge of the garden retaining wall, and add a top cap...then paint it the same as the fence behind.

My wife and I bought 7 Lilacs and 4 other plants a couple a days ago. Have not planted them yet though, too hot. Will be in the 60s on Monday though. Planted an Quaking Aspen, a River Birch, and three lilacs in the last weeks. Your set up looks great there Roger. Are bushes hard to come by round there?

Hedge plants might be a little too close to each other, however I am in Pa. USA and you are in NZ so it might be OK.

Actually I missed the selling season by a few weeks...the garden shop had to special order these for me.

Normally these are easy to find, but time was against me this year. This variety grows fast and doesn't shed leaves everywhere, which means less mess to tidy up every week.

Thanks Steve, I know they are slightly closer than normal, but I will meticulously trim the eventual bush, and keep the height and shape tidy. They grow to about 6 feet diameter by 12 feet in eight normally....but I want to trim so they stay relatively bushy from the ground up (ish) and no more than fence high (about 8 feet) :)

Mowed yesterday. Watered the recently planted trees. Over-seeded part of the yard and patched dead areas elsewhere.

More mowing today. I'm done. Did some weed whacking. Watered some more trees and shrubs.

No breeze to speak of today. Currently, 87 deg F and 50% RH in the shade. Severe clear today. Feels hot.

I'll go do some car stuff now.

No cicadas yet, but the squirrels are tearing up my lawn to get at them.

I dropped a 70ft dead Red Oak tree that was inside where oldest son is fencing in his Turkey's in our back yard... Had a 8 ft window to lay it down. Not bad put it straight through the opening I had. Cut it up in long length's to get it out our Flower beds quickly and stop sweating since it's 92 out..

Same **** as yesterday, just a different mower... I think it's time for a cruise in the Dart. Easy choice as the other two are broken...
