What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Yesterday, I (standing at 6'4" tall) reinstalled every linear inch of toe molding in a 2 bedroom apartment I'm renovating. The building is from 1951, has hardwood floors throughout, and also has beautiful 2-piece baseboard molding (1x5" panel, topped with a decorative trim piece). Back when I painted all the trim, my tall *** decided it would be infinitely easier to remove the toe (quarter-round) before painting, as opposed to masking all that crap before painting, and cleaning up any runs. So...I did. And...I was right. I breezed through the paint work. I've been saving the molding for last, since I was debating a fresh coat of lacquer on the floors before renting it...but yesterday I was there, finishing kitchen cabinets...the downstairs tenant was out...I could use the compressor and air nailer without upsetting her....so I did the toe.

I look like quasimodo now...but it's DONE.

Today's list includes the start of debris removal (mostly the YUGE cardboard boxes the kitchen cabinets shipped in), and some basic cleanup so I can start a true punch-list before final county inspection...until I have to head home and clean up, and load my truck for a live band gig I have tonight. Anyone in Maryland, stop by Dominic's in Monrovia, we (an OUTSTANDING 80s band) go on at 8pm. I'll be the guy standing off to one side, running the show with my iPad (and probably still kinda hunched over). Depending how hot and sweaty it is, I'll either be in a gray MTV tee shirt...or my black dry-fit golf shirt.

I'm not in the band photos since I'm just a contractor for them (it's their show, not mine...and I have a perfect face for radio!)...but they're a great bunch of guys. And some excellent musicians. We always have fun - and so do our crowds!

Fertilized the yard in between rain showers and managed to run over a (harmless) black snake with my spreader and hit him with my foot. I jumped and he jumped; and then he made a beeline for cover. All good.

Ran across two lost and exhausted pitbull mixes. They weren't aggressive, but they didn't want to meet me. Took two pictures of them for the wife so she could post them on the county lost critter fb page.

Took the wife to the grocery store. Surfed the www to see if any interesting parts or cars were for sale. Nope.

A few tidy ups and hoping to get her test flown in the AM before the wind gets back up and the temps hit 36C again! Weather is nuts...

As someone who's 6'8" I can feel your pain acutely!

It was 98° (36.6 C) today here in Minnesota? Crazy hot. Record by 6°

We had frost and -2*C last night....;)

Cleanup is progressing on the apartment...finally getting debris out. Tools are still there, punch list is coming....

Only one thing I hate more than paperwork and that's Government paperwork. 4 hours later I can legally test fly the plane and then I can do more paperwork. Now if Mother Nature would cooperate and the weather dick would quit lying...

I bought this and brought it home. Bought i off the original owner, 25,000KM. I can hardly wait to check everything over and take it for a ride. Been riding for 49 years so far.

I traded a friend a bottle that was embossed with his last name for this Tokheim gas pump. It was sitting in a warehouse he bought, and who knows how long it was there, but it originally was a gas pump, it still has the rivet pattern for the 6x7 Contains Lead signs, but someone made it into a farm diesel pump. Here are some pictures, i just got done stripping it down, and scrapping all the heavy parts, like the pumps and motor, yes, i know, could have sold them for some money as they are still used, but just wanted them gone. I have the entire thing being media blasted right now and new stainless trim parts on the way! I think it will be awesome when i get done with it, and this era of pumps are starting to gain higher value.

Surprisingly it still had just over a gallon of fuel still in the pump, even after many years and being transported on its side it never leaked.

Im holding off on what brand i am going to do, but it will be a fantasy pump, and look like one that existed, but i don't believe ever did in the configuration i will do.

Beer. Make a beer pump.

That is super cool. I'd love something like that to tinker with, great score!
