A few weeks ago I finished building my shop. It's in my walk out basement and is 16x16. It's totally separated from my house, studded, plastic wrapped and osb that is chalked and painted. A blower discharges the air out of the room while pulling in fresh outside air. It's heated separately and the door to the room is an exterior house door to make sure it's sealed bag tight.

Took several years to find the right pieces to make this sign. The D and the A are one piece. The rest were made to fit.

Helped a buddy of mine remove and install new bushings and ball joints on his 94 9 second turbo Dakota. He brought over the upper and lower control arms and we went to work. One ball joint was the worst I've ever had to deal with and I've had some bad ones that didn't want to move. Even my high hitting impact didn't budge it so a BFH and a cheater bar on an old Craftsman ratchet came to the rescue to get it to wake up. Couldn't locate my breakover bar so the old ratchet was used. The ratchet in question is a very old 'extra' that's been laid aside but this thing didn't break like I expected it to after pounding on it with a 4lb hammer and bouncing on it with a cheater. I laid into this thing with my full weight and I'm 200 lbs. We figured it saw 500 ft lbs with the cheater. Plan on keeping it now lol. Also have to say kind words on my very old Taiwan vise that has had the sheet beat out of it for the last 30+ years.....and it's lived on the back carport for all that time and does get wet a lot on windy rainy days. A friend gave it to me and he said he got it from another guy back in the mid 70's. Oh well, enough of that.....

Hey...what is the advantage of Mulching rather than bagging the clippings? I almost always use the bag. I ran out of trash can space so I just let it mulch and was surprised to see hardly any clumps of grass collecting anywhere. Is mulching better for anything? Is there any advantage to it?

I was playing machine shop..... There are actually three eccentric shafts, three rollers with bearings & the toothed sprockets are next, I have to make fifteen of each style...

Still have to foil the bright work, but I finished the wet sanding and polishing and applied the butt stripe.

Many, many years ago the thought was that anymore than 1/2 inch of mulch at the roots was bad. Then everyone started bagging it, including me. After filling landfills they decided leaving it was better, that's when the mulching blades came out. Now mulching is vogue again with the thought that the moisture is held in by the mulch keeping watering to a minimum. If you never cut more than 1/3 of the total length at a time you should never need to bag again, 6 inch tall, two inch off. 4 inch tall is what I used to cut my grass in the summer, never shorter.

That's just so cool to be able to make stuff like that; I'm both jealous and impressed! I've done a couple of minor things with my father-in-law's Bridgeport, but I'm still learning.

Believe it or not, had friends over two weekends ago. One Audi R8, Audi SUV, some two door Jaguar , Maserati SUV, Mercedes SUV, Dodge diesel ram and a Hyundai Genesis. The guy with the two door Jag owns a Volvo truck dealership in Illinois and he was talking about electric Volvo semi's, does that count. There are a few Tesla's in my subdivision, but they're to eerily quite for me. I don't like being snuck up on. The Audi R8 is a machine!! They laugh because I drive a Durango. I like my Durango and I have nothing to prove to anyone. Cars like they drive are a waste of money to me.

I'm still learning too... I spend more time thinking about how I'm going to accomplish things than actually doing it... I've had a few jobs where it seemed like I had to throw away half of my parts but I'm getting better figuring out what step comes first & hitting my numbers...

Sure wasn't drywall like planned...

Need 60 psi at key on I'm told to make this prick start on gas vs either... 5 short.

Hoping to find that 5 psi loss in the dirty $25 filter vs a $400 pump.

New filter on..

And the front left caliper piston is seized... couldn't even hand turn the tire no matter how hard I tried. Hopefully I can get that cleaned up tomorrow vs a $100 rebuilt one.

Front drive shaft U joints totally wasted... no stock at most supply houses, but I think I found 2 for a Monday pick up next town over..

Probably should have melted the plastic retention out of the caps, took 12 tons to shear them..

Two of these please... so I can plow snow... IF the truck starts!
