What did you do today....other than work on your car!?

Cleaned up. Did laundry. Looked at the thermometer, 55! It's been in the teens and 20s all week...so I went out and manually set 45 T-posts for snow fence, washed my Wrangler and fabbed and installed a battery hold down to replace one that somehow disappeared, unloaded my PA from the pickup so I can use it this week to run lumber for the apt renovation...nice quiet day.

Lawyers at the top of the food chain have analytical intelligence of a truly unique type, and often lack common sense. I never met a high end attorney who could turn a wrench.
I met one lawyer that was for my last X and we became friendly....and well, he had a couple of cars and stocks that I had but we did think quite alike since he had more money. It pissed her off that we struck up a friendship and even though I didn't laugh, he and I got together for lunch one day with a couple of friends and he and I ate at a diner that served some pretty good sea food that was a hole in the ground lol

Well, the big shows went off without a hitch. Made tons of new friends, had a blast with all the kids, and this morning I’m sad that it’s all over with. Just a couple pics of the merriment.

Must be "donate a telescope" month.

I couldn't pass this up for $25.
Meade 4500.

Needs some work-
EQ adjustment does not work.
I think it just needs more tooth engagement.
Counter weight is missing.
Looks like I can fab something up.
Optics seem OK viewing stuff again "across the street".

I've never had a Newtonian Reflector.

I see a few of the same model online for 300-400 bucks.

I bought a new old stock telescope on Ebay a few years back, used it for the first time this fall.

I got the equatorial mount fine adjustments working on the reflector.
There is a mesh adjustment on the bottom of each worm gear mount.
Easy except to get to the bottom one, I had to take the whole mount off the tripod.

I think I have a working plan for the counter weight.
I found a metric, flanged lug nut that just had to be lightly ground around the flange, in order to fit inside the mount tube.
I also found the M10 1.4 threads are the same as 1/4" MIP pipe threads (!) so I can use a 4-6" pipe for an extension.
I also found a 1/4 MIP to 3/4 adapter threaded into a 3/4 coupling allows a trailer ball to thread in at the other end of the coupling.
The ball threads into the coupling, but the adapter won't go into the nut that came off the ball.
Whew.
That's a LOT of coincidences.
...but I'll take it.
I think the only drilling I'll have to do is drill through the mount tube and either use set screws or clearance holes and tap into the lug nut.
I'm going to double check to see if a 1/2" MIP coupling will fit the tube as good as the nut flange.
Then I'd have more surface contact and a better patch against deflection damage.

Cut open walls, mounted and wired new outlets for the new kitchen, tested everything and all good.

Still have to pull a 20A circuit for the microwave, and the biggun for the range...but those 2 will finish the kitchen electrical.

And, got a quote for the replacement heat pump. Whoopee...there's 10k I didn't want to spend....

Man, can't do that kind of work anymore......
You're not missing anything fun, trust me....but it's gotta get done.

So far, I have all the utility outlets (GFI protected) and lights done in the kitchen; lights and outlets in the living room done; lights and outlets in the spare bedroom done; lights in the master bedroom done, outlets 60% done (ran out of 12/2; replenished today but jumped on the kitchen first); smoke detectors are done. Need to do the microwave circuit; the range circuit; and the bathroom GFI outlets, bathroom exhaust fan, and bathroom lights. Plan is to have electrical 100% finished by Christmas, so I can move on to rockwool acoustic insulation in the ceiling (to mute the noise from the upstairs apartment as much as possible; fixtures and cabinets; drywall; and flooring.

yay.

Went to the Folsom, California motor vehicle department office, to renew my drivers license, for the next 5 years.
Went real smooth.
Did a lot of it online, that you can do, before going in, in person.
But it's now $45.00 bucks to renew. OUCH.
Wonder if i'm gonna be around to renew again, in 2030? I'm 71.

Oh it wasn't all that fun when I could still do that kind of work lol but it felt good to look back after getting it done! At 73, I feel pretty much worn out....

Been there, done that, didn't buy the t-shirt...... . You can tell cops to get off your property if they don’t have a warrant. You do not have to answer any questions a cop asks you. Police cannot enter private property without permission. Now, they have a dozen excuses ready for needing to be there. Good luck on the slander charges. I've had a love hate relationship with the police over the years.
I was one of the people the FBI decided to come harass over internet posts right after Trump won the first time. I used to be... let's just say "influential." It was funny because my neighbor is an old 1%'er who did time in San Quentin that they still harass, dig through his trash, stop by his shop to bug him, etc. even though he's done nothing but wrench on bikes and care for his grandkids for the last 15 years. They walked right into his house by accident. His old lady was home and just freaked out and tore into them. She's like that. They tell her what they're after anyway, ask about me, apologize for getting the wrong house, and she turns right around and calls me to warn me. When I saw the folder of stuff they had printed out to grill me over I could not stop laughing. That's all they got out of me. Gut busting laughter.

Finally finished up a small (LOL) job that was supposed to have been done two years ago - not my fault....circumstances.

Installed some plywood kick protection to the cables..... 250 Amp supply coming in.

So glad that is over with.
