for one of his Complete restorations? If he wanted 5K to make the daytona from last weeks show presentable what would the cost be for somethig like Goldbergs GTX. This guy is a true craftsman.

:welcome: aboard racko!

Around the cost of a mid priced home.

My guess??? Minimum $100 per hour shop time with NO guaranteed maximum PLUS all materials cost plus 40% minimum. Might issue a "ballpark" based on an initial evaluation with disclaimers for "unseen" issues exposed upon disassembly. That is a guess having worked in a shop that was building custom cars for 8 years while I built my GTX. many hours were spent talking with the owner of that shop about just how to try and figure an accurate cost BEFORE digging in and being able to stick to that price, unless the job was VERY clear cut.

Even if they are "primo" restorations , why would it take two years? ....................MO

Because in this type of business the only way to build a dependable back log is to take on way more cars than you can handle and slowly hit milestones and release them as dictated by your need for cash flow.

How about the other show FANTOMWORKS. where they did a 64 barracuda. The car looked pretty good and complete and they were driving it. $21,000 for parts and 740 hours to restore. So they ended up with a car worth maybe $12K for about $80K. $21,000 FOR PARTS WTF.

I have heard rumors that their work is not that great form people that have seen it first hand. If I were having a car done by someone else I would rather have the work done by hot rod institute on a shop like that. I have seen their work on TV and SEMA and they really do a good job for far less money. Not cheap by any means but far less than a shop from a televised show type shop.

I'd say the primary benefit of having one of these tv shops do your car is that you can be reasonably its they won't pawn your stuff and declare bankruptcy. Other than that, their quality is no better than other top-end shops around the nation.

Well as for the price hell no I'll do it my self you they do nice work not perfect but as Mark said when they left the factory they weren't perfect. So he's just making f-ed up mopars look like shiny f-ed up mopars.
Ok guys I'm done

----------------------Very well stated. There are guys out there who are capable of doing fabulous body and paint work and shops that turn out the same or better quality.

I've seen GYC's restored cars up close first hand and I was far from impressed with the work they have turned out. In my opinion, worse than the factory and even with their shows, Mark has incorrect information a lot of the time. You would think that with the editing that is done, he would at least have it be correct before the show airs. Granted, while people don't know everything, something as simple as calling a Challenger a "PLYMOUTH" Challenger is not acceptable. Especially with the editing it goes through.

I enjoy GYC because it showcases Mopars not because of the hosts expertise.
A Mopars only shop shouldn't regularly rely on cheat sheets to decode fender tags.

Yes its cool its MOPAR Only, but the BS BS BS BS in the family gives the impression car owners are paying for name and a lot of wasted time trying to impress the incompetent staff. Mark farms out the difficult aspects, thus the owner pays overhead for other shops too. for my money if I had a Superbird and Daytona Hemi car yes I might take to his shop otherwise no Thanks.................

i wouldn't want to bet the farm on no pawn shop or bankruptcy, either. i can remember a couple of other programs that flamed out not so long ago, i think maybe.

What happened to Coddingtons shop? They could never find another collection of misfits Like Dwayne. Some of them were funny, though.
