What is everyone working on in the off season.

Yeah it does look a little different angle, but you'll find a hose to fit.
You must be getting close.

got it hooked up today...using a 45 degree hose and a 90 with a steel extension..these old cars with todays modern parts makes 1 get creative..put water in it until i realized i still need to put the temp thermostat in it..lol. it will go back in with the dash gauges. the clearance was so tite, that not only did i have to cut away a couple of safty ribs. i had to shave material off the fan blades themselves,,loss of some cfm but thats how it goes with these cars.

Car swap day yesterday. The Plymouth came home and the hobby Dart went into storage, less engine. Already been digging into the 64. A few off-season pics.

First time for the Dart outdoors. Ready to roll into it's summer spot.

The 64 fired right up with a few good pumps, last time they'll be together till fall.

The hood plenum is removed, 16 X 4.5" element and X-Treme top ready for test fit.

Hood scoop lays dead flat on top of the air filter lid. Happy to be able to fit that big filter!

Installed battery charger posts in the rear plate area today, no more opening the trunk to charge the battery.

malex sounds like the 64 headed back to storage. If the tracks don't open up. Maybe the dart will be finished before you know it.

Howdy Bearman.
Going to keep the 64 at home here and hopefully something opens up. I've made some upgrades to it and some air intake changes. I feel good about it fixing my top end layover that I fought with all last summer, actually as soon as I took the cowl hood off and sealed the air bell to the big hemi scoop last year. It started right then and there.
I'm keeping an eye on a track that's 6 hours east. Their web page is talking about getting something going after May and the nice thing about that track is that it's 2 to 3/10ths faster than my local track due to altitude/air. And perhaps if the border opens up I might find something south.

The hemi for the Dart is in parts acquiring mode right now. I've got most parts now, my Victor hemi heads should arrive late this week. I'll get on those as soon as they show up, got some port finishing planned for those. I've got to make a decision on whether to go with Stage V rockers or with Indy roller rockers yet. There's quite a difference in cost between them. Hopefully I can be convinced either way, looking for opinions guys... The rotating assembly will come through my buddy who will be doing the final hone work on the block . Dyno work, etc. So just as well the Dart stay away until I'm ready for it.

I did put boots onto the new hemi wires today, a first for me for hemi wires. New territory.

Hoping the track opens up so I can see it fly this year. As for which rockers I really don't know which ones. But you will figure that out once you decide what the dart is going to do. Liking the upgrades you have been doing to the 64 keep us posted. You and your family stay safe.

Mike, What your source for those black Boots that snap into the holes in the Hemi Valve covers, also, where did you get the spark plug boots.

They’re called Well Covers.
These ones are Taylor. 44300. They need a bit of a ream for larger wires like 8.5’s but a 5/16” bit with a drill fixes that up easy. They’re are just tight on the exterior end, not in the well.

All the sheetmetal is done. Back on wheels next week for final gap fit check. Then on rotisserie And paint prep. Probably 4 weeks away from a painted shell.

Malex , I wish I could fit a 16" filter in mine . Just no way with a 2 speed wiper still in there . And not enough height for a 14x3 with filter top when added to airplate .
I use a screen for racing with the plate .

I knew it was going to be close. I'm using a 1" drop base, the 4.5" filter and the scoop firmly settles on top just as the hood bottoms. And a 1/2" balsam wood spacer between the dominator and the Super Victor. I'm optimistic that my top end layover will be gone now. It showed up the same time that I sealed the air bell to the air plenum.

I'm curious, what scoop and intake are you running? A screen and plate? Like an air bell set up?

I have tflow 270 raised port heads , super victor intake and sportsman aluminium dominator . Carb is taller than older dominators.
I had to trim baseplate neck to fit 14x3 ckeaner for street use .
Seems to work ok , been on for 18 months .
And I bought a trans temp gauge today .

It seems to be working for you and that's the main thing. I chased a flat spot on the big end all last season. Everything possible was changed last season in effort to finding it. I never did but I'm optimistic it will work better this year with the large filter. Will know sooner or later.
You're concerned about your trans temperature? Do you run a trans brake?

yes I have been running a tbrake for 2 years . Time to gather more info to see if there is any weird fluctuations .

The Edelbrock Victor Hemi Heads showed up today. I ordered them with valves. One month from date of order to delivery.

Bench mounted and ready to dig in.

A little extra work on the bracket but by mounting the heads from the ends it makes the ports completely accessible.

I know what I'll be doing tomorrow.

Haha. I haven't been shook out of the Plymouth yet, I'm banking on stayin put in the Dart too!
