I had a used 90,000 mile 1980 Honda Prelude in college; much like this one.

Those Preludes were the **** back in the day. Stylish, optioned, great mileage and they ran forever. My smallest was a 66 VW Baja bug. I drove that thing off road far more than on. I also owned a 78 Scirocco and an 84 Isuzu Impulse in the somewhat small category. Both were fun cars, but the Scirocco ran and cornered much harder. The Scirocco is the car I was driving in 1987 when I got married. I don't have it anymore, but I still have the wife!

Unfortunately, the previous owner lied about the maintenance. I named that car Praylude because it needed a miracle to get me home. So, I had to take 2 weeks off from college classes to rebuild the engine. The machine shop told me the engine looked more like it had 190,000 miles.

Pinto wagon for a short time. Wife refused to drive it after the ripples on a gravel road sent her in the ditch.

74 Pinto I inherited from my grandparents, that thing would go forever on empty. Luckily it wasn't the exploding hatchback version.

850 Fiat. Got in trouble at school for driving it on the side walk

A friend of mine drove one of those when we were attending Penn State in the early 70s. A graduating senior put a really nice '68 GTX up for sale in 1972, for $1300. We took it for a test drive, and my buddy pleaded with his parents to let him replace the Fiat with the Plymouth. They got a quote for the insurance, and that was the end of that discussion.

Probably an 83 Subaru 2 door hatchback 4x4. Pretty impressive little bugger. It would go places my Power Wagon could not. It was a great car, but alas, the spouse could not drive a stick without me having to replace the clutch regularly, so it had to find a new owner.

In 1983, I bought a '71 VW bug, which was traumatic after driving a GTX as my daily in the late 70s. But by doing so, I was able to retire Baby Blue to garage queen status. Turned out to be a good choice.

An Opel. (Isuzu) Nice little car, 5 speed, plaid upholstery, great mileage. (I was in econo mode then)

I had a Pinto for a year in high school. I had a Rabbit for a couple years in the early 90s. 15 years ago I bought a 2 door stripped down 2008 Focus for a daily. The Pinto was probably the smallest of the 3, though they are all similar sized.
I had a buddy in high school who had a Morris Mini. Now that was a small car! I actually spent some time in the passenger seat of that car, and fit, though looking back I have no idea how. I was a 6’5 beanpole then, maybe 160# soaking wet.
Still, I saw one at a local cruise a few years ago and I think the roofline was about the same height as my hips!

My wife had a '87 Charger hatchback she bought new when we got married in '88. We put about 150k miles and 3 timing belts on it.
