What is the smallest car you have owned?

I had a 68 bug.

Ex mother in law had a nash metropolitan. TINY. Like, "pick it up and scootch it" if your parallel park job isn't tight enough.

I've had any number of k-based turbo cars over the years, along with a couple L bodies (Omni/charger). Still have my 91 Daytona turbo...but don't really consider them "tiny", just low-slung. At 6'4", it's a real drop into them!

Your 'pick it up and scootch it' comment reminded me of my high school bandleader's tiny Datsun that he'd park in the same spot outside of the band room every day. His spot was at the end of the row, with a curb in front of and on the right side of the car. We'd often pick the car up and turn it sideways in it's spot so that he couldn't leave without driving or reversing over the curb. He was known for his temper and would get majorly pissed off. One day someone got a major inspiration, and we removed the post on the metal double door into the band room. We got the Bigs from the football team and they carried the car through the door and placed it on his podium, then replaced the post. No one was late for band class that day, which was right after lunch. When he walked in, the look on his face was priceless. Instead of that vein popping out on his bald head, he just turned around and walked out. When we decided he wasn't coming back we did too. No one was caught or punished for that little stunt, since there weren't cameras in schools in the 70s. Good times!

@Ray70Chrg I had the '68 1100 wagon version. In '73 I was working at a VW dealer and the family traded it on a new Bus. I paid $300 for it. What a riot. The original owner had a tach in it! 60 HP at 6,000 RPM. I would shift it at 6600 or 6700! 4th gear was only good for 5000 RPM because there wasn't enough horsepower at top end to push it through the air! 600 x 12 white wall Continentals, I drove the car so hard I would wear a pair out in 2 or 3 months! I drove the pee out of it for 3 years and sold it for $500!

Yeah, you could beat the hell out of that 1200cc engine and never hurt it. We upgraded to a new '81 station wagon and our 2 young kids grew up in the back space when the rear seat was laid down. This car had 1.8 liter engine and 4 speed manual. We kept for it 15 years and our 2 boys both took their driver license tests in this car. Sold it for $1000.

Good luck finding parts for those 80s fwd Mopars. You’d be better off waiting for a low mileage all original one to pop up for sale.

Good luck finding parts for those 80s fwd Mopars. You’d be better off waiting for a low mileage all original one to pop up for sale.

There are a couple of forums that help out with that. But yeah always nicer to start with as nice and complete a car you can find.

Other than that, I had a '43 Jeep Willys MB I plowed snow with in the mid '70s.
