Went to a friends office and we went out to lunch. In this garage behind his office is his 68 Chevelle, original 48,000 mile survivor. Next it is a 1974 Bricklin, another survivor. Guess what we drove to lunch!

The weather was crazy today. 100 degrees, with real feel 108. The car temperature sat on 205 with the a/c running it's *** off, driving around town no less. That's not bad for a 19 year old mule.....

Next town over VFW Cruise Nite for the early evening. Stopped for ice cream on the way home as the Sun is dropping sooner these days...

The 5.7 is a plus to me. Fans turn on at 195 and off at 185. It actually went to 210 once, it's never been that high before. Anywhere between 195 and 220 is fine.

Very nice and the backdrop for the picture is bitchin!!!
The ice cream stand is an old Caboose we like to stop at in the village, and across the street is the market backdrop. It was more quiet than usual, so I grabbed those shots !

You had me at caboose, I love them and always wanted one. Would make a great bar lounge in the back yard, when I had the land to do it. I can't find the picture I have of Cora in front of one. It's on my computer, I'm on my phone now. Thanks for sharing!!

This time of the year around here is depressing in a way, as a number of our local cruise nights are ending. Monday was 2024's last of a popular Monday night cruise at large shopping center that I attend regularly. Weather here is miserable due to excessive heat warnings, > 100° heat indexes. I really hoped they'd cancel it and do a make-up for the last night of the season next week instead, but they decided to do it anyway. I had planned to take my Challenger convertible but had no motivation to dig it out of the garage and wrestle with putting the boot on etc and drive there in the heat top down. I didn't want to miss the last night though, so took the lazy route and just drove the new Scat Pack with the AC and ventilated seats both on high.
I ended up parking next to a friend's 2011 Challenger and before long, a whole row of Challengers had gathered. I was glad to be part of that, and there was a nice breeze so it was tolerable there. And the event staff picked their car of the year at the event, which was a Mopar this time, a beautiful Power Wagon!
A picture of the power wagon will replace the '23 winner, a '56 Chevy, for next years season on the website for the event.

I remember the first time the new Challenger showed up at the plant for new corporate product show and tell. There was no doubt it was a winner. The charger was another story though, it got the name, but was built to be the new Intrepid, 4 doors and back seat friendly. As far as old school Challengers, @VANDAN has a really nice one, the picture he posted is proof positive. It's bitchin to line up in numbers like that and be part of a huge car movement which challengers have become. I go anywhere and few know or care for a 65 Coronet. People have asked me several times why a 65 Coronet. I guess I'm just odd that way, well, that's not the only way I'm odd, but you get it!! LOL .............. To be honest, any Mopar with a 5.7 works for me!! I turn down an opportunity to buy a 2009 Black Charger R/T, automatic, with 88,000 miles for 800 bucks not two weeks ago. It ran perfect, but had MAJOR electrical issues. Had I lived in one of my bigger houses, I would have bought it, fogged the engine and kept the drivetrain, front to back and associated wiring and gave the rest away. I have friends that would love the interior for Restomod builds. I get why people love to keep all that stuff, I did when I was much younger and still ended up giving it away.

PS. That truck is sweet and very deserving.

Every Thursday, that's a great commitment to be part of, good for you!!!! Thanks for sharing!
AND, if you don’t eat or drink(fat chance!), it’s free to get in. Our fellow FBBO members in Akron proper are missing out.!

Drove the old 72 Charger daily for two weeks now back and forth to work and everywhere in between, shaking her down for some long hauls... played with the one in front of me. A small block with high compression, big cam and a loose convertor make playing a lot fun.
