Where did you and your car go today

Swung by the beach on the way home. 86 degrees, beautiful day.

Wife and I took Cora out for a ride yesterday, went to lunch and a little shopping. On the way back I stop at my car detailer and told him about the lettering on BFG tires not coming out white and I need white, not cream colored. These tires are two years old and have about 4 to 5 thousand miles on them. He details 5000 cars, boats, ATV's, motorcycles, motorhomes, a year and his shop backs up to three new car dealers on the service road and they made a driveway from them to him. I setup an appointment for a full detail, but I told him he needed to show me what they do to get them white so I could pass it along to you guys. We had this discussion here not to long ago and many ideas were shared. This is what they do and it's not brain surgery. Lacquer thinner on a rag and with mine he went over them LIGHTLY with a brass wire brush, not super stiff, after he just wiped them with the lacquer thinner. After hitting them with a wire brush he wiped them again with the rag with lacquer thinner and then sprayed them with a water bottle and wiped them dry with a clean rag. I asked him to do just one part of the writing so you could see the difference. He did the BFGoodrich and the other is how I brought it to him. the difference is day and night. I hope this helps.

I use Naptha... Coleman camp stove fuel. Made my neglected 32 year old Polyglass' white in one wipe prior to Talladega!

After spending all day yesterday on the couch sick, I had to get out today, so I took Old Yeller out on its maiden voyage to get an ice cream this afternoon.

If that is the Mid Rivers/Mexico Rd store-and I believe it is by the St. Peter's (proper spelling) median decoration I was there about 4 pm in my cream puff 98 Taurus after checking out the location of your detail guy. He must have a long lead time. That place was chock full!

I was at the Walgreens on mid rivers across from Schnucks. He fits me in when needed, but, yes he has a hell of a business. He's always busy.

I live a couple blocks from there.
I'll be seeing your guy in a few months to inquire about some paintless dent removal and to detail it. It's spotless now, I had it detailed in Knoxville when I bought it last month. The underneath looks like a new car. I can't find a hint of rust anywhere. When is the last time you saw a Taurus with no rust? My 05 is riddled with it.
Thanks for the tip. I'll tell him I heard of him from you.

I just met him the other day. He bought the business from the guy I knew. The old owner changed me 150 for a total detail, this guy wants 200.

I figured closing on a house was special enough to take a special car out. I didn’t know this but you can apparently have a notary go wherever you need to for the closing, you don’t have to go to the title company. So we went to work, and on my lunch break we’re going to meet the notary at whataburger…because it’s Texas, why not.

We headed north to Curtis’s BBQ in Putney, VT (two old IH school busses and an open pit) for some lunch and across to New Hampshire and back down home. 200 miles or so and the 340 gave us back about 16.5MPG.

Got home at 7:30 or so, nice weather before the winter starts setting in.
