Who has MOVED from their home state ? How difficult was it for you?

I lived in rural Missouri 37 years. Ticks are BAD there. Tick fever is also a terrible disease. Don't laugh, but every evening the wife and I "checked" each other for the little varmits.
A pilgrim new to Mo. asked me one day just how do you make the tick let go, I explained IF you are tough enough, pour a diesel on him and light him! He replied "really!!????"
I've heard that more than a few times!! Another one was to light a kitchen match and blow it out and touch the area where the tick was before the match had a chance to cool! Burn city lol.....

My dad would put a lit cigar on/near them, they'd sometimes back out...

When we had livestock, mostly cattle & a few pigs' goats horses' chickens
they'd get them bad
I got one once on the inside of my thigh, way too close to my johnson,
wearing boxers, running around in the meadow, that sucked literally
my sister Noel (like 11 y/o) had one on her back near her neck/shoulders
when I told her, she fainted, I caught her & I got it out before she even woke up
used a lighter, got the head hot from the flame, by the lil' bugger, it backed out
flushed it

I've heard horror stories about the heads getting imbedded
boring in a bit, when people rip them out
Never knew if that was real... Didn't take any chances

Your story reminds me of a fellow worker who had a record and therefore was not allowed to possess a gun. I should mention he was not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
During a conversation he quizzes the others what he could do for protection inside his home.
The group consensus was to best protect his home during a break-in would be a marine emergency flare gun.:realcrazy:

A friend of mine got rid of a car load of 'young' people with a flare gun many years ago. He was on a bike and they started messing with him pretty bad so he pulled off the highway into a rest area and got the flare gun out of a saddle bag and put it on the seat between his legs. And just like he figured, they also pulled off the highway and came after him again. This time my bud motioned to the passenger (he was riding in the right hand lane) to roll down the window.........and took the shot. He said he saw the flare bounce around the car just as he rolled the throttle back. A few seconds later he looked back and well, the car was on the side of the road burning but all 4 thugs were out of the car.

The key to your story, was he was smart enough to roll down the window first.

Or dumb enough lol. If I were messing with a guy on a bike and he gave me the motion to roll down my window, I'd be pretty skeptical to do it.
