Who is making 500"+ BBM Crates these days?

Who all is making BBM Crate motors these days? Something 500"+.

I know BluePrint used to but now only has the 408.

Carolina Machine Engines just had a nasty hurricane roll thru and their phone says they are closed. Website is down as well.

CME had several options but the web site is down due to the major storm effects. Hopefully they're still going to build engines.

Im pretty sure i spent just under $10,000 to build an Indy headed 470, 20 years ago. I can`t imagine you would want an eight thousand dollar one now.

I had CME make me a 522 and have been happy so far. But it was not 8k. Did take a year though. However it was covid time too

I bought an engine from CME that dumped oil and had the wrong flex plate. I never was able to fix all the places that engine leaked. They wanted me to pay to ship the engine back, and if they found something wrong they would cover parts but I had to cover labor plus shipping the engine to me. Never again.

Indy makes good engines but has horrible customer service.

I would suggest you find a good local engine builder.

I`ve got a little over $12,000 I my 505 race balanced by Hugh's , solid roller , fuel injected , built it my self...Hugh's stroker parts.

Just for clarity for the OP, you cannot compare cost without the details of what is included in the build scope.

Back in '92 I was attending Augusta Tech for Automotive, in Augusta Ga. We had a Medical College of Ga van come in with a bad engine. It was a Ford with a 351W. After removing it we found Carolina Machine engine markings. Upon disassembly we found it had 2 stock bore pistons, 1 .020 over piston, 3 .030 over pistons and, 2 .040 over pistons. I hope their quality has improved since then. For that reason I have always built my own engines.

I always had to build my own , never had the coin to pay someone I`d trust ~!!
