Who Likes Aircraft ?

THIS F-14D #711 OF 712 TOMCATS BUILT.SHE BELONGED TO U.S. NAVY SQUADRON VF-31.
TODAY SHE IS ON DISPLAY AT THE NORTHROP GRUMMAN PLANT AT BETHPAGE ,LONG ISLAND N.Y. I WAS AT FARMINGDALE REPUBLIC AIRPORT WHEN SHE FLEW IN FOR THE LAST TIME TO BE STRIPPED OF HER THEN ADVANCED ELECTRONICS AND ENGINES. ITS SAD TO SEE SUCK A GREAT PLANE CHAINED TO THE GROUND WHEN IT SHOULD UP IN THE AIR FOR ALL TO SEE.
RETIRED NAVY PILOT DALE (SNORT) SNODGRASS THE MAN RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL F-14'S IN THE ATLANTIC FLEET DURING HIS COMMAND TRIED TO PURCHASE 16 MOTHBALLED F-14'S FOR FLYING DEMONSTRATIONS ON THE AIRSHOW CIRCUIT. BUT LACK OF SPONSORSHIP AND RED TAPE SQUASHED THE IDEA. AMAZING PILOT /theaviationist.com/2014/02/12/f-14-buzzes-uss-america/

This is one of those time I wish there was a love button....

And that Bombardier airliner that I showed earlier is now in service, the first revenue flight flew from Zurich to Paris on Friday...

The largest customer so far is Delta, with 75 firm orders plus options on 50 more.

Its a regional? Nacelles are enourmous.
I've been around a share of Challengers...601 - 604.....a couple Globals. Bombardier are good aircraft. Remember Martin replacing one of the greenhouse slider side glass on 604.....combination layers of glass, mylar & acrylic(plex). In 2003, the PART was $85,000. Some perspective.

I like the 'no pylon' nacelle integration to wing, makes sense,,,,,,stronger & prob'ly less drag.

Funny thing about the Tucson AZ base, Davis-Monthan AFB...
the Air force does get parts from there still
As a matter of fact, the USMC is getting F-18 parts for some of their existing, flying F-18s

Here is my neice (left foreground). She is the Marine pilot of the helo shown.

It's a narrow body plane so the engines might look larger. They're Pratt & Whitney PW1500G geared turbofans, either 19,000 or 21,000 lbs. depending on the series for this plane.
Plane doesn't appear to be much larger than a Global Express. Oakley has or had a Global Express...He upgraded to one when first introduced from the Dassault Falcon 50 my Brother in Law sold Him when He was Chief Pilot & head of A/C sales with Air Flite @LGB.(Toyota A/C division.) The Falcon i did some work on......damn nice airplane....i admire the finishing of the French
The little Fouga Magisters are beautifully built....butt match panels near flawless, almost zero toletance seams,,,about 3 sheets of note book paper stacked wont slip in between panels.....every rivet flat....if they cocked one bucking, drilled out & oversized to next step up.
I played hangar boy with Nissan's 604 Challenger for a while.....nice bird. Brass were congenial, pilots were buttholes.....pilots....i mean data punchers.....not many seat of the pants pilots in the new breed of corporate hotshots.

HOLY COW!
GREAT MILITARY ACADEMY!
"I know who she roots for every December during the Army VS Navy foot ball game!"

Yeah, we froze our butts off one year rooting for her team (they still lost) at The Phila stadium. Still had fun though. We (the wife and I) love all military teams and members!
