Listen to the pilot’s description near the end….

Notice on the GeeBee how most turns, steep banks, rolls are executed to pilot's left, opposite direction of crank shaft. One of the Bendix racers in the 30's making a hi speed low pass was overtaken by torque & began to spin around the crank & shoveled hard into the runway. Not enough wing.

The film quality is bad, but it looks like a wing broke off causing him to roll.

You are correct RC, I stand corrected....the best of the crash analysis points to sudden aileron flutter exerting too much force on wing. It is the right wing, a 750 hp radial spinning a long prop clockwise(from inside a/c, tiny airframe, high wing loading, rolled in direction of crank.....the torque contributed to it being the right wing torn off, my gut says.....it sure tried to catch up with the crank.

Update- new de-icer boots are on the Memphis Belle for probably the last time. Pic is of a B-17D (the Swoose(h?) Oldest 17D in the world. Heat isn’t working too great in central Ohio in Jan.!! ‘Belle’ unveiling in May ‘18 per unquoted sources.
