Who Likes Aircraft ?

This happened 31 years ago today. One Airman died who was onboard way in the back. I was there when it happened in a building about 200 yards away. A very Big bang!

At the Us Air Force Museum.....F-15 Streak Eagle

The museum's single-seat F15A, nicknamed "Streak Eagle," broke eight time-to-climb world records between Jan. 16 and Feb. 1, 1975. In setting the last of the eight records, it reached an altitude of 98,425 feet just 3 minutes, 27.8 seconds from brake release at takeoff and "coasted" to nearly 103,000 feet before descending. It was flown in its natural metal finish to reduce weight for the record-setting flights. To protect it from corrosion, McDonnell Douglas Corp. has since painted it in the gray color scheme of most operational F-15s.

The remains of that plane were shipped to McGuire AFB during the BRAC93 days in the 1990s. We put it in one of the zeppelin hangars at Lakehurst. They were using parts for maintaining the rest of the fleet.

The tail on that one wound up on 0191, and that one is 0190. This happened after some type of accident on 191. 0191 is stationed at Travis. There's a lot of stories how with this tail on it that 0191 just doesn't fly right ever since it was installed. I have quite a few hours on 0191 and the boom always flew good for me, so I don't know what they're talkin about?

On my way back from Nellis AFB for a photo shoot, we had a 1 hr lay over and got to taking with the pilot . He was retired Air Force. He was nice enough to let me get a couple of shots of the cockpit of the 737-700 NG "Next Generation "N746SW. He even lit up the dash. This was post 9/11 a real rare treat for a aviation fan. I guess I look trustworthy.flight took us over the lower part of lake Michigan as we flew home to Long Island N.Y.
