Interesting story:
Stewart Symington was a General in the newly formed Air Force.
Then he served as the first Secretary of the Air Force from 1947 to 1950.
He was LOBBIED by CONVAIR to influence the purchase of the B-36 over the Northrup B-49

F2H- snakeyes my dad worked on those&Corsairs off the coast of Korea. He/we were always partial to Corsairs. Few yrs ago he stuck his shoulders up in access panel at mid-fuselage with the pilot& came out with a big grin on his face.

SE of Akron. There's a lake right next to hanger that was used for some kind of sonar testing back in the 50's-70's. The lake and surrounding land was employee's park for Goodyear up until 2000,sold the park to the state.Dad was stationed in Fla. tail end of WWII with a blimp squadron.Carriers in Korean War.

Running the engine on a stand, was pretty cool too...
