I have a 73 RR with the original choke control unit with 2 wires going to it. Is there a trick to getting the 2 wire connectors to "unplug" from the unit? They are loose but I can't get them to come off without breaking stuff. Thanks for your advice.

try using a very fine screw driver or pick down inside to open them up.dont break the choke side, but you can replace the wire terminal ends really easy.if need be,slowly cut up the terminal ends, being very carefull not to damage the choke side connectors.

There is a little tang in the middle of the connecter that needs to be released. Use afore mentioned tiny tools.

Suspected a small tool was needed. Many thanks for the replies!
