I'm not a fan of white lettered tires if they make your eyes go to them first. Same with bright shiny wheel so you see wheels first.

My take: I think on the examples above, with the white "440" callouts on the hood or "Plymouth" decal on the quarter, or maybe a white vinyl top, white letters out would work very nicely. That said, I'm not a fan of white letter tires...blackwalls out for me.

How about those lovely brown letters on BFG TA'S? Should those be out also?

The only white letters I like are the original Polyglas GT tires. Small letters.

White letters out for sure.

White letters out is era correct for that car, and look fine to me. Generally, I don't like RWL, especially on early '60's cars. I have used Radial T/A's on my everyday cars in the past, but always black side out. Just my preference.

I go by what Luigi from cars said:

“Black-wall tires, they blend into the pavement, but these white-wall tires, [or white letter tires] they say look at me, here I am, love me.”

If you are unable to keep the white on the tires clean, no matter the reason, then go black walls!
