The four speed is definitely more fun to drive but I would go with the automatic in a 10 second car. I rebuilt the 23 spline trans in my sport satellite over 20 years ago and have been running it behind a 440 with a six pack with no issues but there is a big difference between my low 14's and...
The only thing I have bought from 440 Source was a pair of big block pickup motor mounts. They were exactly what I was looking for and the customer service was great. No matter what company you deal with, you are going to have good and bad experiences. I have never had any luck buying mopar...
To answer Gonzo, the 383's had the 23 spline transmission. As far as I know, only the 440's and hemis had the 18 spline. I'm not even sure all of the 440's had the 18 spline.
Based on the picture, it looks like you just need to put a pilot bushing in the crank and you're ready to go. I have the tranny out of my car right now so I can get a picture this weekend of what it should look like with the pilot bushing if you need it. The four speed hump is available from...
I'm not familiar with exhaust manifold numbers so I'm not sure I have what you need. I scrapped out a 72 satellite sebring plus with a 318 a few years ago. Those exhaust manifolds should still be around. Could that be what you are looking for?

Nevermind, I just looked at...
I guess wrenching on mopars comes naturally to me. When my father was a teenager, he put a desoto 6 cylinder in an early '30s plymouth 2 door sedan. That was around the end of WW11. The first car I can remember riding in was my parents' 52 dodge meadowbrook. The first car I can remember wanting...
I have a 66 coronet, column shift, automatic column that is complete with steering wheel, horn ring, shift lever, and turn signal lever. I don't remember if it came out of a power or manual steering car though. It is in storage about 100 miles from here so I won't be able to get any pictures, if...
Like Cranky says, it depends on conditions. My 66 Imperial sat for over 8 years. I pulled all the spark plugs, squirted oil in the cylinders, cranked it over with the starter until the oil pressure came up, filled the carb with gas, put new plugs in, cleaned up the points, and fired it up with...
Hey Jeff, if you still want some snow down there, we got about 3 inches you can come and get any time. The snow wouldn't be a big deal but the temperature is 6 degrees right now with 35 mph sustained winds gusting to 41 mph. That's giving us wind chills near 20 below and visibility below a mile...
I don't remember having any heating problems with the road runner. I have had some trouble with the sport satellite. The shroud seems to make a big difference for me. I would get the shroud mounted before I worried too much about the heating issue. Glad to see you made your deadline and the show.
If the bearing isn't binding things up, it has to be something with the splines. I haven't heard of those splines twisting before but it is possible. Usually, the axle will break right where the splines end. It is possible the end of the splines have been hammered on by something and are binding...
I did originally buy the sport satellite to be a parts car for the road runner so using those spider gears does seem fitting. If the car still moves under its own power, it's probably not the spider gears though. Pull the carrier and the problem should be extremely obvious.
I wonder if that was why you found some of the nuts loose on the carrier when you started working on the car. Let me know if you have any trouble finding parts. I have several 8-3/4" differentials laying around. I think I even have an extra 742 case. I put a Richmond locker in the sport...
