0ne owner 1967 GTX restoration

Got the windshield and rear glass. Getting the front end aligned and then bringing it home to finish the re assembly. Any one in the south east that is interested in getting their Mopar done right, PM me for the shop info in Jackson MS that did the body and mechinical work on my car. They really know how to do things right and have a great deal of expeirence with B Body Mopars.

WOW! What history on a family story, this too cool! Are you making the patch panels? If so you're definitely a craftsman! Great job!

Here are a couple of pictures, one in the snow, yes it does snow in New Orleans every once and a while is from about 1973. You can see my 72 Road Runner and 56 Chevy 2 door wagon in the shot. I put the stripes on and hand lettered Plymouth on each quarter. The other is from 1970 as you can see from the plate. In front is the 61 Corvar Monza that was my brothers first car and what I drove to get my first license. I drove the GTX to school when I was a senior. Class of '71.

The body tech in Jackson made all of the patch panels and we found the lower rear quarter for the passenger side at Year One. The MOPAR Jewler did a GREAT JOB and IS a real craftsman!

Found a couple of other shots. The first is from December 1976 and the other is the '78 World of Wheels in New Orleans. The color on the car was 1966 Corvette Nassau Blue. I still have the Keystones, lost track of the girlfriend.

The car was delivered July 31, 1967. My brother was going to be 17 in August and he bought the car for his birthday. The black stripes were added by me sometime during 1973. I painted it nassau blue in 76, dyed the interior black and put on the Keystones. We put it in four World of Wheels shows where it won the class each time. It was in Altered Restored because of two modifications, the wheels and an aftermarket air cleaner. In 1982 the car was stored in my brother garage and stayed there until 2005 when he gave it to me after Hurricane Katrina damaged his house. I picked it up in October of 2005 and started the restoration in March 2010.
When I got it the brakes on the rear drivers side were frozen and the gas tank had began to get some rust pin holes. It sat so long that one of the torsion bars just broke I guess from all of the stuff he had stacked on the car. I replaced the tank and fuel filter and had the origonial AFB rebuilt. After I put in a new battery, it started right up. I remember he poured motor oil down the carb when he stored the car and that helped perserve the engine. When I got it home it still had the ropes, spot lights, signs and trophys from the last time it was in the car show still the trunk along with an old bottle of Maguires Mirror Glaze. It has 99918 miles on it.

Gotta love that part of time..dig your bro's side burns

it's good that you were able to do something on a car where you personally knew the history of it.Not many people can say that.

I want to go to the Mopar Nationals. They have an area set up for one owner cars or cars that have been in the same family since new. I found this on the site:

If you would like to be in the “Original Owner” display, you must circle the YES next to the Original Owner question and submit a copy of the paperwork for the car purchase that reflects your name or someone in your family. To qualify for entry into the Original Owners Display, the must have been purchased new from the dealership by you or someone in your immediate family (Father, Mother, Sister, Brother). This allows for not only those cars that have the exact original owner, but for those of us lucky enough to have received a car from our parents or siblings.

Very nice GTX. Love the 4 speed cars.

I have a 67 GTX that came from New Orleans also that needs to be restored. It could have been purchased from the same dealer, but who knows. It is an automatic car that has air conditioning.

Keep the posts and pics coming!

I see that you are in Mississippi also. This car was delivered to Moran Motor Company in Baton Rouge. The salesman at Howard Motors located it for my brother. I made a re creation of the window sticker from what I could make out on the origional one that I still have. I remember that I had to soak it with wet paper towels in to soften up the glue. I got it off in mostly one piece, but some of it stuck to to the glass.
I would love to check out your GTX sometime. I am in Hattiesburg/Petal.

I live in Greenwood. Love seeing the original paper work.

Well my GTX doesnt have the original motor or trans like yours. Your car is a super nice original car. I have been trying to buy a 4 speed 67 for several years, but its original drivetrain is gone also. It was a maroon car with black stripes, black interior and black vinyl top.

Great thread, I love the 66-67 b bodies.

Got all the outside trim and moldings on. Starting on the interior. P6K Copper. Ordering the seat covers from Legendary Interiors.
