1967 Coronet Deluxe

Got the trunk paint work done and re-assembled. I have to finish by putting the new seal in but that can happen this week some time. All thats left is the underhood paint before it gets dropped off for new years....

Oh and just when you think you are done with rust it finds you again.

Just read through this thread. Very impressive!! Keep up the great work.

That sucks but its good that you did find it now!

It is purely amazing that it can hide in plain sight. The spot on the top of the rear quarter there was nothing more then the tiniest of rust bubbles. One touch with the wire wheel and it became a tiny hole...this has happened about 5 times so far in random places.

I hate to say it because I'll probably eat my words but I think the rust is done now.

Hope it's all done for you too . . . but I've seen your work, and if you find more, it won't be there very long ! ! !

Keep up the great work - can't wait to see your car in paint . . .

I hope your right, and honestly i had the same problem once, smack dab in front of me never even thinking anything about it until i started with a paint scoffer, long time ago but stranger things then that have happened, sometimes in places where you would have bet money was ok, and of course the best ones are the ones where you expect the worse, and you find good, thats happened to me not to long ago, made my day! :)

Haha this entire car was summed up by that. Some spots are just plain spotless and then others are just gone. For example, the torsion bar cross member was DONE but the front frame rails connected to it were perfect....how is that even possible. And the inner rockers were perfect too!...

Its been that story all over this car but hopefully that's behind us.

Finding good where i thought would be bad does make me happy as can be, but, but why cant the stuff be good we thought would be to! lol
Its all part of the fun is the way i look at it, i love working on them and thats not the norm i guess, it does make it better to have one to enjoy while doing another car so its the best of both worlds when it works out that way!
I watch everyone's builds here, i get the biggest relaxing time in the world when i come here and see how some find ways to make things work, turning cars back into the beauty they were and sometimes even better then that... You said at the start that you weren't familiar with this type of work i think i remember, but yet you make it look easy, you've done what a lot might not have even tried and now its about over and soon you'll be riding around and working out the little gremlins they all seem to have when were done, i still think though you will be on the look out for another project car lol.. I cant help it, i just have a feeling once this is complete that sitting still isint going to be an option.. Ive been wrong before, go ahead lay it on me rofl...

haha, yeah I have been attempting to keep myself in check and not look for the projects but its difficult. But budget will prevent me from starting another of this magnitude anytime soon. So hopefully I can keep myself in check when we get to that point but...time will tell...

Looking good, It's better to find it now than after it's painted but know how frustrating it can be "especially the money side of it". I really wish I could have shared my build but was late to the table and all the metal work was already done "oh well". Keep after it

X2 . . . looking great ! ! Is that the primer/sealer you were telling me about ? ?

Keep up the good work and keep us all posted !

I got the hood and hinges painted Monday but not back on the car yet, it was raining last night. I also got the quarter extensions painted but have to wet sand and add another coat, I ended up with a couple of sags trying to get paint in all of the corners. Not a big deal, easy to fix.

You will have to excuse the lighting, it makes the hood look like a different color.

Yes thats the sealer, that stuff is amazingly sticky. The overspray from that sealer sticks to everything it touches...dirt, grease, you...my floor

Looking real good Kb! Cant wait to see it all in color, maybe not quite as much as you, Hemi powered to boot... Enjoy!

Yeah I am very excited to see it all in color. On top of all of this we are now looking at a potential move. So this is going to be one busy *** holiday season! But on the positive side, the place we are considering a move is the same place I had planned to bring the car to get it painted. So instead of just dropping it off, I'd be able to take part in the process and learn some more body skills....(also make sure things go as i planned)

Here is a terrible picture of the hood on the car....I forgot to get a pic snapped before i crammed it back in the garage. This thing looks like a paint factory puked on it..hahaha

I got the trunk seal and both door seals on today. Both came out pretty good, a little extraneous glue in a couple spots but I'll have to attempt to deal with that another day. Either way that is done and the hood is adjusted pretty much right where I think it will stay. Now its ready for the rest of the exterior paint then assembly.

I also need new door panels, my drivers side pretty much let itself go since I took it off and now I can't re-stretch the vinyl to glue it.

A potential move, and the car coming together . . . you do have a bust holiday ahead of you ! ! ! Best wishes on the move.

Looking good KB . . . keep it going, can you see the light at the end of the tunnel ? ? ?

Don't worry about the paint factory accident, you'll never know the difference . . . soon ! ! !!
