Thanks bud, yeah that is in the side yard of the house facing away. House would be on the right and the road and HVAC business on the left. So far I love living here. Temps are not bad even without air conditioning and everybody is nice.

Got to get some more done this weekend. I managed to start over on my gauge cluster. The plastic of the bezel distorted and basically went in the round file. So I decided that I like steel better anyway.

Started with a piece of flat plate and bent it to match the dash contour. Then cut it the proper shape with the help of a cardboard template I made. Mocked it in place and marked the center of teh steering column. Then layed out how big of a spot I needed for the gauges. Made a couple of triangle shaped pieces and tacked them in and then tacked in the back plate. Cut out the center last....then lots of clean up and a little filler work to smooth out the edges. For the heater controls I traced the layout on the steel and just used the cut off wheel to make those. They aren't perfect and I have to come up with a game plan to make those look a bit better and more factory.

I have it flat black in those pictures but painted it dash colored last night. Only problem is my paint doesn't seem to match well...may have to go back to flat black...I'll play with the mix some to try and get it closer first though.

absolutely amazing thread. Thanks for the phone call last night...
stand up guy! great info in this thread. im so motivated to start on mine now...
keep up the good work. When you said last night you had done some "metal work" on your car....I had no idea lol.
wow.

Well this weekend was the anti-progress weekend. Had to head to a wedding out of town. Upon return I attempted to put my trim on with my new trim clips only to realize they will not work...not even close. Then put the car back in the garage and realize i have a pretty bad fuel leak coming from the tank area. Take a good look at it and find that my fuel connection at the pump is leaking pretty badly...no idea why. So now I'll have to pull that apart and try to figure out what is causing the leak. ugh...one step forward and 4 steps back. :angryfire:

Just wanted to throw a quick plug in here...

This morning I noticed that the same part I ordered from Summit racing for my fuel line over a year ago has undergone a complete make over...same part number...new part. So I elected to start a "chat" with customer service and ask if they had a known issue with the older style connector which is now leaking for me. He says no known issues but asked if I'd like to warranty the part. I told him I doubt that would be possible since the order was in May of last year. Well he sent me a new one for free!! So just wanted to say thank you to Summit Racing for their continued excellent customer service and support of our hobby!

Always had real good luck with summit as well. Accurate orders, nice website and great support. Good to hear they got you squared away.

Well I put the new fitting from summit on the car and no change. So I spent some time down there and found that the seam on the fuel regulator for the in-tank pump is leaking. Soooo...I guess I get to replace the fuel pump. I should be glad though, it could have happened on the road and that would have been much worse than this.

On a positive note I picked up the drive shaft this afternoon and it looks great. I won't get it installed until I put the fuel pump back in. Its a bunch easier to reach the fuel line connection without a drive shaft in the way...

So looks like another $200 unexpected...ugh!

Wow! love the gauges. Agreed, Summit is a great bunch of guys (always stand behind their parts).

Looking good KB, always something ain't it? I know how you feel.

I have had several bad parts from Summit on my doorstep that they more than expected made right - love Summit!

Keep up the good work!

I to have to agree, Summit is not only good but one if not the fastest getting things to you!

Well despite our earlier set backs I made some good progress this weekend. I managed to get the new fuel pump in, install the drive shaft, modify the exhaust h-pipe to accommodate the larger drive shaft, wire up the brake lights, turn signals, front lights, turn signals, wiper motor, and gauges. So now everything is working except I still need to wire up the heater, and dome light.

with any luck this week I hope to get the trim on the car, replace the C pillar trim, install the window trim and a host of other things.

Wow KB . . . Great to see that you're able to make some headway on the car . . . Looking really good too ! ! !

Thanks for all the help and suggestions on my car too . . . I need all the help I can get . . . so I can chase the "bugs" like you're doing . . . Dare I say I'm looking forward to it? ? ?
