It's Sleeperific!!!!

Had two guys at work today ask me if it had a 318....sleeperiffic indeed.

Car has been great so far. I drove it over 100 miles between yesterday and today and loved every minute of it! This thing loves to cruise 70 mph. 60 mph is around 1600 rpm and 70 is 1800...seems to sip fuel pretty dainty too. I'll try to get pictures from the wife's phone from us vising lake Michigan yesterday..then took a small cruise up toward door county but not too long.

Great news KB67 - to hear that you are driving that "sleeper" around . . . WOW . . . What a feeling that has got to be after all your hard work ! ! !

Very impressive . . . got a little ways before I get there but I will continue to plug away at it one piece at a time ! ! ! Congratulations on having a driver ! ! !

Don't rub it in haha, mines at 3,200 rpm at 70mph and it's a thirsty pig for sure. Sounds like your having allot of fun, great to hear!!!!

Haha...yeah 3200 rpm would cause about anything to turn into a thirsty pig!

Looking good. One thought comes to mind have you tried fitting the NV3500 in the car to check tunnel clearances and mount location?

you may be a few posts behind....the trans has been in the car for over a year and is currently in use with no tunnel mods.

Thanks for posting the pic's bud!!! I like showing the wife AFTER she see's or seen (she see's a lot of the car work done hear) what you had to go thru to get to this point! Dark and light and it sure looks bright now, and i can only assume, but i know what its still like to back out of my drive way in the 73, a grin and double heart beat will start it out, REALLY cool ride sitting there in front of the lake, beautiful setting for a large poster framed above your fireplace maybe!!! My brother in law had one made up of his Cuda, id like to get one myself sometime... :blob1:

So there I was.....

Neighbor's came over for my daughters b-day party which gave me an excuse to take them for a ride. Jim Jr. and Jim Sr. were anxious to see what the Coronet could do...so I set out to test out my gps speedo's 1/4 mile function. We found a deserted back country road and came to a stop...setup the speedo and made a pretty dossile launch in second gear. I skipped first all together in the interest of traction and avoiding a long embarassing potentially gear clashing power shift from 1st to second. So with our mundane launch and an extra 500 lbs of man cargo I managed a 14.87 @ 98.7 mph. Not bad considering the lack of any sort of decent driving on my part....

I wonder how accurate those GPS 1/4 mile times are. I have Speedvision on my phone. Still haven't used it yet in my Charger. Afraid, don't want to be disappointed.

Well the project never ends....I've had a bit of a leak from the transmission now since I got this thing road worthy and I am worried its starting to foul the clutch disk. It was always just kind of a few drops after shutting if off and didn't seem like it leaked during running. Now the trans looks wet after a trip and today I noticed the clutch sticking a little while at a stop sign...the clutch still spins with the flywheel and that never used to be the case. So I think I will have to pull the transmission out and replace the front trans seal (something I probably should have done before i put it in the car:violent-smiley-100::cussing I fear that I will have to buy a new clutch disk now too....oh well..but this may park the car for the rest of the season sadly...

Hope not for your sake bud but getting it done now will make you feel a little bit better of next years travel! Hopefully it wont be as bad as your thinking!!!

Well this morning its not sticking again so my next thought is the clutch slave cylinder and line could be getting too much exhaust heat. I think ill try insulating those and see if it stays good. Then once driving season closes I can pull the trans and replace the seal.

So I think the clutch disk is still ok.

That sounds good that it's ok, Maybe its me but i do often wonder if any others are seeing the same stuff with MOPAR when it comes to "heat exhaust" dealing with fuel, trans, and other things.... Ive had different cars throughout my years and any Chevy, outside of Mopar my preferred vehicle and with headers and all i seem to here of more problems and HAVE more problems with "heat" in one way affecting the other with the Mopars.... I know there better vehicles and being on this site does NOT make me say that, Its a fact, but a lot of heat problems ive dealt and heard about! Not just exhaust heat but that's the main one i seem to here about whatever the problem is... I love the sound of headers but with Mopar i guess we don't really need them to make our point!

This weekend was a pretty big success. I finished the wiring...so now it has all working lights, a heater, horn, windshield washer pump etc. Then I got the heater box re-installed and hooked up to the heater hoses. I managed to get the inner wheel well splash guards in (minus some rubber I will have to make for the rear sides) After all of that I turned attention to getting the interior back together. So I put some seam sealer down on the seams then installed the rear seats after some seat belts. Also installed the interior panels, armrests, some door handles that were in nicer shape and even the sill plates. So all it needs now for our first road trip is new rubber on the freshly painted wheels, an alignment and my arse in the seat.

Do you have any additional pictures of your install of the inner fender splash guards? Mine were rusted beyond recognition and I need to fit my re-pops but don't really have any reference as to exactly how they should fit. This is on a '66 Coronet 500 but should be essentially the same as yours. Thanks!

Sorry but those are all the pics I took. I just re-used a set of originals from my 66 parts car and cleaned up the top area with some new metal. They don't hug tight like the originals up there anymore but I don't need them to either. They are a little interesting to get in but don't forget that area that sticks out toward the bottom bolts to the fender...that should give you some orientation. If you need any further help send me a pm and I can try to walk you through/

Thanks 747. Yeah you are right but actually I don't have a long list...trans input seal and i'd love to get tail pipes on it. Sadly this winter will be spent vegging in the house trying to build the savings account back up. So I am hoping I can spend the $5 on the new seal and wait on the rest.

By the way anybody in NE Wisconsin, if interested our church is having a bbq and car show here in Luxemburg on the 25th. I plan to bring the car and if any of you is interested in coming I'd make sure to hang out and BS.
