1968 Charger, Ray Barton 528 Hemi, Pro-touring.

While waiting for stuff to dry and harden I'm going about all the boring stuff. Splash guards cleaned up and painted after soaking in strip all.
Anyone know where to find a full kit with clips and gaskets?
I will probably spray one side of them with Raptor bedliner to make them hold up better with more protection and hopefully less noise.

As you may know I got this car in cardboard boxes with parts from who knows what...
Well, the hood latch I got seems to be from a -71 to -74 Charger.. it doesn't work with the lever mechanism that's correct for a -68. Does anyone have a picture of how a -68 latch is actuated by the lever feel free to post it here..

Had three of these and glass blasted, cleaned and painted them all.

Due to your location being so far away from an inexpensive[ compared to your hood] pool of replacement parts, you sure come up with cool ways to repair items or do innovative updates. You rock!

Tried a darker shade of silver on the grille doors.
Still not as dark as the remnants of the oem colour but I've heard theories of it to darken through age and wear. Sourced a 1,56mm wide masking tape for the fins.

Finished the sound dampening and insulation of the firewall. Fitted the belts.. bits and pieces.

Helped a friend with his new wheels. BF Goodrich 295/50-15 in the rear really filled it out good. Imo it looks pretty awesome!

Some good progress today. Got the heater and vent box in that I restored a while ago. Always a good feeling bolting things in for good But a tight fit with how I imagined routing the heater hoses, that Hemi is big! We'll see what to do there. Definately want them hidden somehow.

After this I concentrated on the belts again. I needed bushings through the upper rear pads, whatever they are called.. so I went to work on the lathe again. It fit good eventually and works well.

Before I mounted the heater and vent box I drilled and bolted in the hidden cable tubes to the front of the car.
Oh, almost forgot, stripped, cleaned and painted the filler tube with Plastikote's cast iron paint. Love that color.

I needed bushings so the belt holder would swivel properly. The lower ones are just for off setting the lower mounts slightly.

The masking of the fins almost drove me crazy but boy was it satisfying to remove it. One down, two to go. Painted it dark silver first, masked off side trim and all those blody fins and sprayed it satin black.

Christmas came early this year!
I sure envy you guys on the right side of the pond. It's freakin expensive buying stuff for these cars over here!
But on the upside, I think I have everything now to make this thing roadworthy?

Very good and productive evening at the garage where everything just fell together. A nice flow..
Adjusted the driver side fender and door. Fitted the passenger side fender and did a rough adjustment. Readjusted the hood to get nice gap to the driver side and then readjusted the passenger side fender to get a good gap on this side also. And it actually looks decent but far from perfect.
The fenders are some aftermarket products from the nineties. And the fitment around the cowl and doors is just not possible to adjust without cutting, grinding and adding material to get the gaps perfect. When it's time for a proffesional paintjob that's what I will do. But this is good enough for now. I just need to get going..

Oh yeah, forgot one thing, fitted the filler tube, new gaskets from the shelf, 13 years old but still nice and soft.

Gaps are probably better than it was new! Looks great!

Had some familytime skiing this weekend so not much done on the Charger. Got home today but managed to squeeze in a couple of hours in the workshop.
Got a first sample of the 3D-printed headlight holder. Looks good but some tweeks needed before we print the final version in carbon fiber filament.
Fastened the hidden cable tubes and trial fitted the 355mm(13.98") rotors and Brembo calipers. The 10mm watercut mounting plates seems to work well. They fit the spindle and Brembos good and the offset is very close to center.

Two down, one to go.. doing little by little to avoid going batshit crazy about the masking part.
