1968 Charger, Ray Barton 528 Hemi, Pro-touring.

So did you figure out the tail light differences (if there really are any)? I do not have any familiarity with 68 charger taillights, so I am afraid I cannot help.
Unfortunately not, I can't believe both sides are identical though. I need to compsre with someones.

Since i have an E-body Dana 60 I had to relocate the spring plates inward 1" on each side. Turned out ok so now I trial fitted some wheels to see where I end up. The goal is to have the wheels as far out as possible and really close to the fender lips. The tires on these wheels are 295, it looks like I can squeese in up to 345's.

I had some lower bars from an E-body 4-link lying around that I trial fitted to check ride height. Turned out the bars are slightly short so not a direct fit between bodies.
Still not decided between 4-link or leafs/cal-tracs but to get things rolling I think I'll just use the leafs I have for now and think some more on If I really should build a 4-link in the future.
Did some measuring and 335's should be possible to fit in the rear but I need to lower it a bit more, would like to see the upper part of the rim slightly covered by the fender.

I just finished reading your build thread. Looking good! I'm getting ready to send the 65 Belvedere off for paint-it's only been a 10 year project. The reason I'm sending this is to tell you I'm using Cal Tracs with monoleafs on my car. I built a panhard bar with a Jegs kit and added a competition (drag race) antisway bar. The bar is mounted up at the top of the frame rails, out of the way (on my car anyway) and very little unsprung weight is added. Something else to think about!

Nope, a friend of mine just bought a -68 so I'm gonna do some investigating of his tail lights.

Had some hope of spraying epoxy in the engine compartment, inside and underneath but the weather gods were against me. Atleast everything is ready for paint. Was nice to see it outside though!
But the color choice is driving me nuts.
I've always believed it was originally a "Hemi orange, V2" so I got a spray can mixed just to test and compsre. The V2 was much more orange than I expected. I was expecting more red in it..
This got me to believe the original paint is "Bright red, R4" instead. What the heck should I do..?!
There is an area in the middle of the firewall where I tried out the "V2" paint.
Another option is the newer "Hemi Orange" that my SRT8 came in. I really dont know what to do..

What a great milestone, congrats!

I know you weren't planning to repaint the exterior originally, so if that is still the plan I would try to match the engine bay to the exterior color as much as possible.

That is true, my brother is really good with vinyl wraps so probably going that route just to get it rolling asap.
I need to mix a can of R4 so I can compsre..

Robbed a Mercedes c-class of it's 3-point seatbelts and got them fitted inside the Charger. I need to keep my family safe during roadtrips!

I really like the seat belt modification. Do you have any more pics on how you mounted the retractor?

Not in the phone now but I can take some better pictures tomorrow!
It's a tight fit not to clash with the window mechanism but I've mounted them as low and as much forward against the post as possible. I Will probably curse them when rolling down the rear quarters but something had to give..
I have two rollers in the rear also, much easier fit and I utilized the holes that were already there in the rear shelf.
I have a third 3-point roller for the rear but I think I'll just get some simple waist-belt for the middle rear passenger. Didn't find any good way of fitting it..

I'm going to 3D-print guides that will fit in the door cards to guide the belt out from the inside to keep it from rubbing against metal.

The weather gods were smiling att me today.
It was very satisfying spraying the interior, undercarriage, engine bay and trunk today with epoxy. It feels like I've reached the peak and it's downhill from here!
@funknut The pictures I tried taking does not show much, I'll spray the interior black and mount the seatbelts first and then take some better pictures with measurements and info for you.

And by the way, I've decided about color. R4 red is my choice, It's the original color on this car and I really like it. The V2 was a little bit to much orange and it felt a little dull somehow?.. I think I've googled every R4 and V2 Charger existing and the R4 "pops" a little bit more to my liking.
Fingers crossed, mixing paint next week to spray the engine bay and trunk!
Can't wait to start moumting all my goidies. Next thing going under the spray gun is the Ray Barton Hemi. That's going to be nice..

The weather was nice so I decided to clean up the Dana and spray it together with the Hemi k-frame and some other parts.
Made a jig out of an old pallet,s osb and some small wheel rollers. Much easier to work around it, the Dana is heavy!

The color on this car is driving me nuts.
The "R4" the local paint shop could find was way to red. I then googled some more and found that the new Challenger color ZR3 is called "Torred" or "High performance red" and replaces the old "R4 Bright red". Mixed up a can but this is way to red..
Does anyone have a modern color code for "V2" or "R4"?

I can't help you with the paint codes, but remember that these old cars fade over time due to sun and weather exposure.

If you have a small(er) part that has the color you like, you should be able to bring that part to a paint dealer and have then read/ analyze the color and make custom paint to match it.

That's exactly what I'm doing. Brought a nice fender to a repair shop where they will buff it up and analyze it, fingers crossed, should have a result to my liking tomorrow.
I found a picture via Google who is very close to what "my" R4 colored engine bay should look like, hopefully, in the near future.

Painted the interior and inside the doors black today and bought "my" version of the R4 paint that the car came in. The mix was perfect after a paint shop analyzed it, finally!!
The whole body is sealed and ready for the raptor bedliner.
My brother is helping me bondo the engine bay, I'm totally useless at it so very thankful for that!

Finally tackled something that's been worrying me a while. I bought an interior from a 2017 Challenger, rear seat, front seats and mid console..
I've seen others fit these rear seats in b-bodies but the backrest is way to high.
So I simply just dismantled one of the backrests and cut off 100mm(4"). It turned out ok and the height above the rear shelf look acceptable. About an 1". The shelf will be beefier than oem to be able to fit speakers better.
I also modified the seat to be able to mount it as low as possible. Cut, bent and rewelded the frame to raise mid section as much as possible.
