1969 Charger R/T resurrection

Nice!

- - - Updated - - -

Mother nature gave me a little bit of a break, I got my blasting done on Saturday. i didn't have much to do but I hear you on the precip keeping you indoors.

After much deliberation I ordered my front disc brake conversion last week and it was delivered today. I ended up going with a kit from Pirate Jacks made by MBM. I am going from power drum to manual front disc. This is a very nice quality setup and I am happy with the purchase. A few things I was looking for was: a complete kit from one place and not piecemealed together from different vendors, a non plastic non adjustable prop. valve, the correct master cylinder, spindles, and Mopar replacement service parts for the future. This is the same kit that Jegs sells (which I have heard several good reports) but with the addition of the prop. valve and master cylinder. These 2 pieces are new and not available everywhere yet. I have been reading numerous reports from people not satisfied with SBBC or The Right Stuff, enough to make me leery to go that route. As of now I think I made the right decision but of course it will be a year before I will be bolting it up.

This is all very valuable research, I like the way you explained why you chose this kit from this vendor, very good considerations IMO.

Which kit did you get hunt? > DBK6272LX~PBUP6570 - and swapped out the cylynder?
Or did you get them to fix you up a special kit with the manual cyl?

I bought the DBK6272 kit, PV6070MOP comb. prop. valve, MC5621 master cylinder, and 5621MRK manual rod service kit. They put these items together for me as a kit and gave me a very decent price on it. The only things I had to get elsewhere was the manual master cylinder backing plate and the manual brake rod.

Nice looking kit H2E! Thanks for sharing the info.

I think it will work nice Prop. They are a decent business to deal with - friendly and helpful. And thanks for taking the time giving me your opinion on brake swaps.

Hey Ron, Good to hear from you. Thought maybe you were on a vacation somewhere warm. You must have a blanket of snow by you yet also. They are predicting another 6 inches on Thursday night here. As long as this crap keeps up I can't get the shell blasted so it is kinda at a standstill for the time being.

No vacation Elk, Im hear most every night or every other night, i just made up my mind i don't need to comment on everything, No snow here, yesterday i had to have heat in the garage again though, day before that it hit 71 and yesterday made 50 but rain, wind and it was cold to me! Today its 60 and sunshine, its spring time but cant make up its mind i guess, I do hope you get the weather you need soon, ive been doing a little spot sand blasting myself and i do wish i could do it outdoors, its a messy job but i haven't as yet had any volunteers come along :) I wish you luck on the weather and that Charger, cant wait to see it done!

No car pics., but this is what I see looking out my front window this morning. The record low temp. for tonight is 18* and the meteorologists are predicting that will surely fall. Getting pretty frustrating.

I don't feel so bad now "last weekend it got into the 80's and now we are back in the 50's". At least we don't have any snow.

Elk, its been a long hard winter and im on the same page with you on wanting winter over, i woke to it snowing and blowing this AM but didn't amount to anything.. It looks like the same view we've seen so many times this winter, im sorry to say it but ya have to admit it is a beautiful view, even though we want to see the green stuff on everything for a few months :)

Saturday afternoon turned out to be really nice although a little chilly. At least there was no precipitation falling. Finally got the car pushed outside and blasted. Now I can get the trunk and floorboard spot welds smoothed over with a little Duraglass and ready for primer. Rain, sleet, and snow is in the forecast almost every day this week, so I am extremely glad we were able to get this outside stuff done.

Some before and after pics. of the console tops I just finished up. Stripped them down, sprayed on fresh black semi-gloss, and replaced the imitation wood grain. Turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.

I'm a little late to your last updates but the color you have picked out for the body is going to look great and you console plate look really nice. What color/brand paint did you use on the black?

I wish I had the exterior color figured out, but I don't as of now. I used a semi gloss black PIA brand black on the console tops.
