1969 Charger R/T resurrection

Glad you got a positive out of it and sounds like the shop you are working with is pretty cool. Galls me that their part is defective and you're paying extra, and apparently shipping both ways for the new one and the old one. I'll remember this Mancini

X2, nothing more aggrevating than a company that can't right they're wrongs which is why I deal with Summit "nothing but good things to sat about them".

Thanks for the heads up on this mancini crap have to wait n see if what they send is the same.

WOW, I've never seen so many wires, tubes, and hoses in my life.. Glad you shared that problem, I was going to buy one of those myself.. I feel your pain bro! Hang in there. My envy grows every time I look at your thread! I was telling someone the other day, you and I started about the same time, you did more to yours and now your about thru. You da man!

Thanks Kid, but I feel as though I am quite a bit away from being done. As far as the dizzy, there is no way I would buy another one of Mancinis "perfectly reproduced" models.

"Sweet" that sucks, this is life in the car world, one moment your on cloud nine and the next your wanting to smack someone over the head with a wrench "for me it's the Chinese that can't seem to use measuring tools correctly". At any rate that's some pretty stout numbers, enough for allot of fun and a wallet full of tickets haha. Very nice looking as well "love pretty motors" Congrats Elk.

Yeah, I would be willing to bet this dist. was made in China. Sure would be nice if we could make things in the States again.
I am very happy with the power of the motor even though the builder keeps referring to it as a lightweight lol. I had him downsize the cam one notch from what he wanted to use, which cost me around 25 hp he figures. I don't think I will have to much of a problem breaking loose the tires with what I have :headbang:

Yeah, the shop is awesome. Bending over backwards for something that was not their fault. You can bet once I get the new dist I will be contacting Mancini about these shipping charges. I'll keep everybody posted.

I agree totally and try to buy everything I can from Summit. At the time nobody else had these distributers and I was led to believe these were exactly the same as a Mopar - not so though.

Thanks for the kind words Charlie. From the restos being rebuilt on this site, it looks like there will be a few new 2nd gen black Chargers running around in the near future :3gears:.

H2E . . . so sorry to hear about the bad Distributor - but that engine looks like a beast ! ! And some good looking numbers too ! !

Looking forward to seeing it all installed in your car and running . . . keep up the great work - LOVE the way your car is looking !

Wow Elk, impressive numbers and a engine that seems to fit perfect with the car, I can imagine you are going to be getting many trophy's anytime you put this in a show, awesome work and it sure shows in everything...

Damn, sorry to hear about your mancini issues. I used a pertronix kit in my rebuilt original distributor, but even those I guess have been hit or miss on the quality. Mine was alright as far as I can tell without running it yet, but my friend Mike has had issues with the past 2 he's used on peoples' cars. :shruggy:

I WOULD JOIN THAT CLUB BUT IM STILL GOING TO PAINT MINE GREEN BUT I COULD ALWAYS SH:headbang::headbang:T SOME BLACK METAL FLAKE IN ITLOL

Spent the whole afternoon getting the car hauled and the borrowed enclosed trailer back to its owner - all through a nasty snowstorm. But now she is back home safe and sound for good with a new top and headliner. Excuse the crappy pics, I see the lens of my camera needs a little cleaning and I didn't feel like retaking them right now.

There's no dirt on that lens H2E . . . nothing that that gorgeous car can't shine through ! ! !

That's looking fantastic ! ! ! . . . so it's the final stretch now, just 950 parts left and it'll all be put back together ? ! ? ! ? ! ?

( smile )

Looking good - thanks for the update ! !

Something like that lol. I'm just glad I was able to get it hauled today so I can putz around with it between X-mas gatherings.

Very nice job, your car is going to be really nice. Don't you just want to quit working and work around the clock till it's all back together. I can't wait to see it finished.

Yeah that would be cool. Only problem is I need the work to pay for this money pit.

They did a really nice job on that vinyl "looks great" along with the headliner. You should have this thing wrapped up in no time and ready for Spring. Congrats
