1969 Charger R/T resurrection

Vinyl top looks good on it. When you put the trim back on, it will look even better. Just a quick question. When they put the vinyl top on, where did they cut the vinyl to glue it in the window channel? From the photos, it looks like it is about halfway where the clips would screw in.

The vinyl top is terminated somewhere under the drip rail molding. I'm not sure where exactly because I had them put this molding back on. The headliner does wrap around and is cut in the area where the screw holes are for the roof rail - if that is what you are referring to.

Yeah, we could do that. If we had someone out East with a Black Beast, we would have N-E-S-W covered :headbang:
Lol!

Thanks Speedy. Happy Holidays back to you. Should be a great year with several project cars from this board getting on the road after many years of sitting idle.

Thanks H2E, that's what I was referring about. I guess when you screw the molding clips on, they will help hold the vinyl top in place.

The new distributer came in from Mancini and we were able to finish the tuning. Ended up with 487.9 hp and 542 ft. lbs. of torque. This is the kind of power I was looking for so I am pleased with the build. They were going to build up a crate so I can haul it home tomorrow. :headbang:

You are not the only one lol. I think I will be happy with the power. I was looking for a build with ample torque that would still be dependable and streetable.

Whoa boy ! ! ! H2E - Looking real nice ! ! !

Great to see you able to sneak out to the shop and get some things done on the car over the busy holidays ! ! !

Keep it up . . . you're getting closer . . . Can't wait to see that baby on the road - it's going to be a work of art ! !

I did get out in the shop a little, but not much really to show. I forgot I still had to blast and paint the reverse lights, license plate lamp, motor mount bolts, taillight hardware................... So that's what I have been up to. It just goes on and on, but at least is a bunch of short little jobs.

Are you going to post a video of it running "we want smoke too"????????? Looking forward to seeing all of the trim going back on and the motor dropping the nose haha "going to be sweet".

X2 !!!! That's a must do! I'm looking forward to all those restored parts on the shelf going in also .. Post plenty of photo's please H2E :)

Forgot to mention that I got my motor hauled home yesterday afternoon. The shop forgot to machine the flywheel for me, and as he was doing that decided that I should have a new ring gear. For some reason the 143 tooth gear is not very common around here and is being shipped from Missouri. So it will be next week before I get that back. Not like I am lacking for things to do on the car anyways, so it isn't holding anything up. I'm trying to decide if I want to take the front end back apart to drop the car over the motor/tranny, or just wrestle it in from the top in 2 pieces.

Wonder what dist was in that Kit from Mancini? I thought they were using a Firecore? Do you have a pic of the bad one? I got a Firecore this past summer and its been a great unit. Lots of guys over on DC.com are running them without problems. Does the factory dist have adjustments for mechanical advance?

This is a Firecore, they have billet bodies.

I already sent the bad dizzy back to Mancini so no pics to post. They are having them made by some company here in the States, but I can't remember who but it was not Firecore. It looks just like the factory units, but does not have the provision to adjust the vac advance through the port by the diaphragm. Neither of these units are capable of easily adjusting the advance curve. I am kind of upset about my ignorance on distributers, because if I had known about the Firecore 6 months ago I would have boughten one of those. And the worst part is that for the time and money this current one cost me, it would have been cheaper to buy the Firecore upfront. And I would have been able to easily adjust the advance. I am not sure the current springs are going to be the best in mine as it is not all in until about 3400 rpm.

That motor looks great "beautiful". As for the motor install I've put mine in one at a time and both at once "Way easier to drop tranny and motor in at once I think". The only real thing you have to do is have the car high enough to allow the tranny to go in pointed down at a good angle and leave the accessories off of the front of the motor, water pump, etc. Just my 2 cents but I like not having to deal with the torque converter, starter, bellhousing bolts etc.
