I hear ya. I've been working on my hood for my Charger. A tree fell on the right corner about 20 years ago, just now getting around to fixing it. Metal, mud and primer work done, going to shoot it flat back for now. Was going to shoot it with SEM Hot Rod black but the kit with color, hardnener and reducer was $80 for a quart! Figured I'd try to save some cash and use what the Rat Rod guys use, John Deere Blitz Black, $12/qt. Well that was a mistake, went on dry and streaked no matter how hard I tried to keep it wet.
Now it's gotta get sanded down and respray. Will be trying the SEM next time around.
Oh, and Mopars in the Park is next Saturday!
waiting for that sealer to dry really good, I have a couple of little nibs I want to block down wet with some fine paper on a pad before I go any further. The body looks great though, lines are crisp, panels straight, door/fender gaps are nice.
It'll get there today, it's just going to be a long day that's all.
