What else would it be? Car has been taken apart, painted, engine changed and rebuilt etc. if that’s not a restored car, then what else would it be? Parsing words like that is silly, a car doesn’t have to be nut and bolt correct to be restored.

Either you believe what the word “restored“ means as defined in a dictionary or you are simply wrong.
Restored by definition is to return to the original state.
An engine swap and color change does not meet that definition.
My car is essentially the same situation. Originally a 318 car painted F8 but now has a 440 and red paint.

It sucks that there is no term that feels just right to describe a car that has been fixed up but no longer matches its original condition. Some people call it “ Restified”, a mix of restored and modified. I find that term clunky and awkward. Rebuild assumes that it was broken. Refurbished infers a cheap paint job and crappy repairs.

good luck telling people their cars arent restored. Seriously, good luck with that. definitions aren’t something you can go and redeem anywhere. maybe a few hundred cars ever have been restored if you want to claim what you posted. That would mean no unoriginal parts, no switched out engines, nothing. Yeah, stop and ponder telling somebody their car doesn’t meet your standards and then on top of that say you don’t have a word to offer what their car is because you can’t think of one. Lol.

Well I don't consider it a restored car.
It's a 318 car with an incorrect year 440 an aluminum intake, headers, electronic ignition and a color change.
Nothing wrong with any of that but it's certainly not "restored".

All the carter's I've worked on you can't get the cover on unless the metering rod is inside the jet.
But they could get stuck in any position of their travel although it's never happened to me.

I opened up an avs cover and found a bent rod in one. I can’t remember if it was out of the well or just wadded up in there.

This. Matchek, go to harbor freight and get a vacuum gauge and a compression test kit. Leak down test is more involved but comp and vac are easy and will give you some data to work with. You're a chem E, right, data wins. Comp you test every cylinder for max psi, vac you are looking for reading at idle and whether it is steady or not.

Hey guys, "restore" means to "bring back into existence" AND it also means "to bring back to its original state" so technically we're both right. Thank you for bringing up though - my intent was to show that someone took attention to doing major work to it.

Some updates. I did talk to Todd Marsh and the person he recommended. Excellent gentlemen and thank you for mentioning!

On thing that was brought up is that the PVC valve should be connected to the front of the carb. I think someone brought up the PVC valve. Currently mine is connected from the PVC to the air cleaner. Thoughts on that?

No. The pcv is on the other valve cover.
What you're pointing at is commonly called a " breather".
Go ahead and hook the pcv to the front. Plug whatever it used to be hooked to.
Fire up the car. See how it runs.

The Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve is the one on the drivers side valve cover in you picture. It kind of seams to me that it should be on the passenger side valve cover. You might need to change sides of your valve covers. Im not sure if it matters which side it is on.

Not sure if they're correct for the year, but they are on the correct sides.
