Either you believe what the word “restored“ means as defined in a dictionary or you are simply wrong. What else would it be? Car has been taken apart, painted, engine changed and rebuilt etc. if that’s not a restored car, then what else would it be? Parsing words like that is silly, a car doesn’t have to be nut and bolt correct to be restored.
Restored by definition is to return to the original state.
An engine swap and color change does not meet that definition.
My car is essentially the same situation. Originally a 318 car painted F8 but now has a 440 and red paint.
It sucks that there is no term that feels just right to describe a car that has been fixed up but no longer matches its original condition. Some people call it “ Restified”, a mix of restored and modified. I find that term clunky and awkward. Rebuild assumes that it was broken. Refurbished infers a cheap paint job and crappy repairs.
