Well....I was hoping around 600, but the cams not as big as it could be and it will be tamed a bit fuel wise for a little better street manners. If I hit 550 and beyond, ill be happy. Enough to get me to church on time..lol My guess.....................570HP. What is your crystal ball saying?

hmmm...in my very-unqualified opinion, i reckon she'll be pushin mid-upper 580's with 93+ octane.

i've been lurkin' Skeletor's thread; and holy-mackerel Will, that is goin' to be da baddest motor north of the cheddar curtain! everything you picked looks to match REAL nicely...:3gears:

Little late to the party. I would have cut the mount bolt head off and used a new one but I got drawers of bolts.

so torque arm is in! :hello2: went in nice and easy {that's what she said huh-huh}

on to da steering box!!

time to dust this thread off...i took y'alls advice and bought the torque strap from schumacher (thanks Pete). nice piece. solid, and the eyelet (cant member what it's actually called) seems like it's nice and fluid.

oil pump (with new o-ring) is back in, motor mount (a new one from NAPA--thanks RRR) is back in, and im sizing up where to put this torque strap now...

i followed the destructions included with the strap (first pic), but it will not sit flush on top of the k-member. i fiddled with the length of the rod (huh-huh) and with it in different positions (huh-huh) and the only way it will fit right is if i put the eyelet on the back of the tab--it's supposed to be on the other side (second pic).

****--just thought of this---i could also rotate the tab it's mounted to (towards the fender) and i may get the angle of the dangle better that way. well either way....

my question for you gents is; will mounting it this way reduce the effectiveness of the strap, or f something up?

let me know what y'all think..and as always, much obliged.

btw, here are the new M/T VC's i just bought from a member here at FBBO for your perusal...

Tallhair, the M/T's are in...for now. going to keep these on until everything is sorted out and i have no more leaks. once that happens, then ill throw on the custom MoPar ones.

regarding the steering box, i did go with a tighter box (hee-hee) from steer and gear out of Ohio. nice piece, and it got here in less than a week!!

i am in the process of installing it this weekend, and should have it done by tonight. i will post pics later on...thanks!!

thanks for the update ... looking forward to how it goes breaking in that new box ... he haw!

I'm not a big fan of having the side of the block tugged on when HP numbers start climbing and use effilent oars instead or tie onto the head instead with a torque strap. I've seen a few broken ears before and one had a piece of the block still attached to it....and some say that you can distort the cylinder wall too. That, I don't know but I do know about broken blocks.

I can see what your talkin bout Cranky...but she's a very stock build and i reckon the torque strap will save me from tearing into the motor mounts again in the very near future. i will definitely look, listen and feel to see if somethin' ain't quite right. if i have to eliminate the torque arm, i will. it's as easy as taking out three bolts. I had to drill two holes into the k-member, but i think is worth taking a shot and see.

I installed my new, tight Steer and Gear box today:happy1:

sloooooooowly and surely she's comin along...lol

finally got time to work on my baby blue...:hello2:

all i have left is pulling the old 971 pan and putting a in "proper" 402 pan w/windage tray. :confused5:

hopefully i will be takin' her for a few shakedown rides tomorrow...provided it doesn't rain :angry9:
