$500- 68 charger

Putting on quarters is the one thing I want to put off as long as possible. It seems like it would be so easy to screw something up. You want to hang mine daytona? lol

looks very good, make sure the 1/4 end cap lines up,i did not,so now i have to drill out my welds in the rear.
What do you mean 1/4 end cap line up? I have to put full quarters on mine and want to be sure I understand, thanks

I think he is referring to the hockey stick shaped end caps at the rear of the quarters Don. We had to do some tweaking on my quarters to get a nice line there also. Hopefully you wont have that problem since you are using full quarters, but I would still bolt them on and check the fitment.

Yep, I was lucky I thought of that and lined them up before any welds.

Ok, your talking about the trim piece on the rear of the car, above the tail lights.

All done with the skin, other than a lot of grinding. Those darn lower corner pieces are tuff to get even close to right.
This seams like a big step to me., Kind of a relief to be done with most all panel welding work, other than the rear window. I will have to research the window repair and figure out what parts I can find for it. It will be a couple of weeks before I can get the rotis., then major blasting, clean up and prep for epoxy primer. The rest of the body- doors, frnt fenders, hood and trunk lid are in good shape so they should go easy, but will do those nearer to finishing, after refurbishing and reassembling most everything else.

Nice job, looks great... are we having fun yet.... keep up all the great work

Advisory> Those are made of cast aluminum I believe--- careful refurbing them.
Yes sir, I just did mine. I filed a little and then used All Metal to build the corners up, not something you want to do to much tweaking on. Cast aluminum-pot metal? Whatever it is isn't very workable.

Strange but I would like to do it again, because I know the next set will be 100% perfect. Mine is only 99%, lol. I learned a lot on mine, and could have done a little better job. But under the skins, in the rear of the rockers, up thru the roof sail plane/rear columns and every where else I could get to, was blasted, rust treated and/or painted in every microscopic place I could get the in-frame zinc paint and/or $.96 wallmart paint, which should make it last at least another 50 years. And every spot weld was either clamped or screwed tight on both sides before welding. I will say this also tho, I owe a lot of thanks to many guys on here that helped me with everything I've done so far. I'm thinkin and hopeing most of the rest of the work will be easier and not as easy to really mess up.

I always think about the next years our cars will see, like you said should be good for 5o years, any way we look at it, the next few decades unless some nut gets our cars, shouldn't be in the same place with rust as they were when we got them after there first decades on the road!

I think/hope that mine will last a lot longer due to it possibly may never be seeing rain again, unless like you say- some nut gets it, lets it sit in the weather, or drives it in the rain, etc.

Yeah I really plan on driving the wheels off my car, but I think it's safe to say all of our cars will be seeing a lot nicer lives this time around lol

I need some help here guys. I want to order the patch/repair parts I need for the rear window frame. I am having trouble finding what I need and not sure what all I need. Any links or info will help. Here's what I have to fix >

IMHO dont buy the sail panel patch, they are a joke,,,better to just make the patches & weld them in.

I am assuming these do not fit chargers>

I believe that is the same piece that other suppliers state- except charger. And that curve is no where on my window area.

Yea daytona that is the rear window corner for B bodies except charger. You're at the same point I'm at with my build. It looks like I'm going to have to fab up the rear window channel of find a doner vehicle with a good back window. Other than that it looks like you would have to but the entire roof for the pieces you want. I am still looking to see if anyone makes what I need.

Wow, I bought a 1968 Blue Charger with blue upholstery and a white vinyl top back in 1974 for $275.00. I put a 383 4V engine that I took out of a totaled 1968 Road Runner because someone had dumped a quart of sand in the crankcase of the Charger totally destroying the original engine. I sold the car later on that same year. It would be wild if it was your car.

This one was a one owner and sat in a field for 35+years here in the mid-south after he quit driving it. And it still had the original motor when I got it. Sorry to spoil your excitment, would've been a good story tho.

I just ordered those 3 pieces from Classic Ind. for a total of about $550, shipping and everything.
And still will have to make a few things.

Finished most of the grinding on the 1/4.
