$500- 68 charger

Thnx, Yea all the different types of racing was always fun but dangerous too! I used to race everything I could race, even raced at the roller skating rink!, that's what did in my hip I think.. lol.
I got some of these Dura-Blocks for the filler smoothing, and going to get one of the longer foam flexible ones also., and got a teflon mixing board and a roll of sticky back 180 grit sandpaper. Did a little sanding on the fender and you can see how the Clausen primer shows the lows and highs. Those are probably due to me getting to close while blasting, but like I said I will go over the whole car with a skim coat of filler.

At least your fenders are in better condition than mine were. They will look good when you are done.

I have been working on my yard and house a lot, which were in need of a good bit of maintenance, and haven't had a lot of time and energy left for the car but will be getting back on it soon. I got some sad news today, my "Uncle Bob" passed away, he was 86.. I had mentioned before how he had been helping me with info and loaning me tools/equipment., like the rotisserie, sand blaster, etc.. And he came by and looked at my car a few times to see how I was doing. He was an expert restorer and won many show trophies for his cars. I really looked up to him and he was the only relative I had that loved cars like me. I'll miss him a lot.

Sad day . . . and so sorry for your loss of your Uncle . . . tough to lose someone, and when you look up to them, and go to them to help you out - gotta be even tougher . . .

RIP Uncle Bob . . . my condolences on your loss Daytona Kid !

If anyone is doing a rear window frame restore I think I found the corner pieces that I thought nobody made. I was doing a little shopping for some other parts and ran across this site. Wish I had been able to get them about a year ago.. The corner part is listed in bodyparts., page 38.. But the part in the pic doesn't look right, so beware it may be a mistake. I would maybe call them and try to clarify if it really is a 68-70 window frame part or not.

Those are listed as charger parts
AMD has those pieces listed for $32.99 for 68-70 B-Bodies.

I can't find them at AMD, do you have a link?
I think those from AMD are for 68-70 B-bodies (except charger)..

I forgot all about this build till it poped up man you have been busy . Keep it up your getting so much closer with every little thing .

Thanks Guys, Yea Uncle Bob will be dearly missed. I really regret not spending more time with him working on cars, or even just talking about them. He told me once that he hoped I'd finish the car before he passed away. I'm very sad I didn't. But I feel he's still gonna see it finished. I've been waiting on a painter/body guy that I've been talking to, who stays busy. He is very good and was friends with Bob. I'm hoping to take him the car near the 1st of October. I have been busy but not so much with the car. I did go to a Mopar event at the local strip a week or so ago. It was pretty lame, but did see some old friends and found out about a 440 long block/motor (with a steel crank) for $500. I will probably buy it and may make a 572ci out of it. Or if it is healthy enough just get it running as is for now.
Here is one thing that I've been busy on, I had to rebuild my patio roof. The old one lasted 25 years. I made this one a little bigger (26'x16')and will easily cover a car, if ever needed. I reused the corner benches but all the overhead is new. The patio has been a nice place for me to work on parts for the car.

Sweet Daytona Kid ! ! Very nice work you did on the roof - - - I'm sure you're going to enjoy it for years to come ! !

So what is the biggest I can safely get out of a stock block?

You would be safe going with a 512 and safer yet with 493 or 499. Some have gone 520 but many will tell you that is pushing it. Sonic test the block first before you decide on what direction to go.

I had no idea a 440 couldn't go further than that, I might as well stick with stroking the 400 block I have. So these 543 kits that 440 source sells are unsafe? http://www.440source.com/strokerkits.htm
I may still get the 440 if for no other reason than it seems like a good deal.
