Can anyone tell me the size of the Max Wedge air cleaners ? Dia.and height ? The metal top piece, not the paper element. Thanks

I recently picked up a real nice used steel hood that I want to install on my car with a Max Wedge scoop. I also got all the stainless pieces that were on this car. I noticed the hood spear that came with all the trim pieces is longer than what would have come on this hood. Are they different for a sedan & coupe ? It looks like the one that came on my hood is shorter. Also, if you got a Max Wedge did they have a spear on the hood with the scoop ?

Short spears were mainly on Savoys, no spear with the hood scoop.

Just thought I'd post some before and after pics of my 440 Hardtop, some goof went scraping down the drivers side and bent up the fender and door last week! I got right on it and straightened it up and painted it. The colour was a bit difficult to locate as the Yankee colour charts don't match the Canuck version , going by the colour code it should have been Beige (A.K.A Antique Buff) but the paint guys I deal with found the colour with the "Windsor built " code Under the title of "Luminous Cordovan" which on my charts goes by the name of "Mahogany" It's single stage catalized acrylic enamel (Low Voc version) . I did not take a photo of the damage , I never do it seems , once it's fixed I forget it ever happened or try to , I'm weird that way !

It is nice to see a Windsor, Ontario-built Dodge. For our American cousins, who are not aware of the differences; the 440 series was our top trim level. We did not have Polara or Polara 500 in Canada in 1963. These would come in 1964. Our 440 side trim was a little simpler than U.S. equivalent, but our version used the Polara tail light and backup lights. The real difference, however, was that the interior was basically that of a U.S. Plymouth Belvedere, complete with Plymouth dash. The front fender "V" denotes the standard Canadian V-8 engine, a 313 Poly. This was a . 030" underbored version of the 318, which would show up in Canada for 1964.

This is my 63 Sport Fury w/318 Poly which I found in Marquette, Mi (I'm 3rd owner). The interior is original as is the 318. The Poly is getting tired and in need of a rebuild, and yes the original Poly stays in its original place after rebuild. Not yet sure of what changes will be made but plan to go from original 230hp to somewhere just north of 300hp. I had another 63 Plymouth Savoy 2 door when living in Augusta Ga which I paid $50 (225 was tight). Put a newer slant six in and new brakes and tires and used it as carpool vehicle. It got hit in the front end and was hauled away to a small bone yard behind our subdivision. I really want that 2 dr Savoy back so I can turn it into a big block Gasser, something I've wanted to do since I saw my 1st Mopar gasser in the late 60s. Time to take a trip to Augusta.

SWEET 63 you have! I’ve had a ’63 vert I got out of CA in ’94. Did some tweaking on it, 4bbl, duals, elec ignition, ’65 Dodge rear, 3:55’s redid the interior, though largely left it alone for years as it looked and ran nice. Major re-do came in 2017, rebuilding the teen new color, some 727 and suspension upgrades, etc. The motor idea I had was a crate 360, though getting talked into redoing the poly. All the dang work on the poly ended up a tad short in performance IMO, but not enough to go through a re-do. Runs fine; but should have stayed with the 3:23 gearing as I never intended on racing, just a nice cruiser.

Bill, your '63 is just awesome ! I have to say though, it looks a little tired in the back, maybe consider a new set of leafs, as it would preserve the car, and improve the ride. ESPO makes a good set, and you could cosmetically match the finish, to the existing members. Please don't take this as criticism, but just a recommendation...

Hi
Amazingly, in '63 , 80 to 90 % of the Fender Mirrors were dealer installed and they used the '57 to '61 "Forwardlook" mirrors , it was super rare to see the smaller " twin post" mirrors as factory installed options. Even the '64's ended up in the same boat! The twin post mirrors with the Pentastar on the Mirror housing started showing up with more frequency in '65 and '66. I put the smaller twin post mirrors on my '63 Plymouth wagon, and placed it in a judge meet at the Local Chrysler parts depot car show about 10 years ago , I had one judge tell me that the mirrors were wrong and that I had installed '66 mirrors! He even offered me the "correct" mirrors for a reasonable price so I would not keep loosing points for the wrong mirrors! , I bought them but they are now on my '58 Dodge wagon!

The mirrors were probably dealer installed. They are listed on the sales receipt as an extra expense.

Springs are on my to do list.

I just picked the car up this summer. So I have a big list of stuff that it needs.

It’s going to take a couple years for me to get it back in shape.

Talk about getting things back into shape , I've got a bit of a problem with my Full wheel covers!
Wednesday morning I go out to the car and the left front tire is flat ....I never have Flats!!
Anyhow further inspection revealed that the wheel cover must have moved and actually pulled the valve stem to a point where it split right at the Rim , a new valve stem assy and it was fixed!
I checked the other side and the wheel coverr was right against the valve stem! I removed the wheel discs and centered the tire valve stem in the wheel cover opening. Roughly 50 miles later and they are up against the valve stem again so it looks like the wheel covers are moving!
I'm just not sure what to do about it... The tires are Dunlop Elites 215 /70R14 The wheel covers are the stock originals, for now I've replaced them with some spares I had. The rims are 5.5 inches wide and I had them all sandblasted and powder coated prior to installing the tires. It's only the front ones that do this...

When I had my '64 Polara 500 convertible, I kept the original spinner wheel discs on it. I found that it would occasionally throw a wheel cover off. Upon investigation, I found that they would eventually turn up against the valve stem, and get forced off. These discs mounted a relatively heavy die cast spinner and hub assembly. The repeated inertia of this assembly not wanting to move as the disc itself did, made the wheeldi cover gradually move until it hit the valve stem. I solved the problem by purchasing a roll of that grit tape that you might put on wooden steps, so you do not slip on them. I trimmed the tape down to the width of the rim that the wheel cover mounts to. This tape is adhesive on the back, so I stuck it down on the rim, and carefully pounded the cover on with a rubber mallet. Problem solved!
