'64 330 Street Hemi build

the bad thing about the color is, it doesn't photo well. the shots don't pick up the metal flake, the depth, the tone. but that may be the case in all amateur photography. your Charger and Benno's R/T are the same color to me.... but i can"t see tones like others can...

LL-1 sweet thanks, yeh i know what you mean by it doesnt show well in photos as it does in person, i love this color so much especially with my white roof, i always thought it was a custom color and not a factory color, now i am happy that it is, man i wish i had a hemi in between the fenders though

My 68 Dart is LL-1. PPG used to call it surf turquoise metallic. I love that color too. It changes all the time.

What color do you have under it? I used DP40 the first time I shot that color and it was a lighter green/blue than when I used DP90. Now it's pretty dark blue at times.

Benno, if you google it, the color chip generally won't come up correctly.

as far as it changing, not seen that, but it could depending on the brand i guess. i know it's very "transparent" and if I remember right we had to shoot 6 coats before it evened out and covered well. we shot this over a gray base primer. here is the orig. '64 catalog cut of the paint chips from Chrysler/Dodge.

Thanks 2059 for this great thread. I just spent the last 2 hours taking it all in. 62-64 Dodges are it for me, and a 64 with a Hemi is just heaven. The quality of the build and your attention to detail is amazing, and your car is a real credit to you. I am so thankful you take the time to share your photo story. I have subscribed and look forward to seeing it finished!

Was only going to run the initial break in for the trans and rear today (put 1.3 miles on the car and never left the shop) but got started and one thing lead to another. set the steering column, and the wheel. checked the brake lights, turn signals, parking lights and horns (nothin' like the old spartan hi/low horn combo). had a little trouble because the sockets needed to be grounded for everything to work correctly. figured that out over lunch, beer and a tuna sandwich. discovered the new brake light switch sticks (plastic POS) so I dug out the orig. switch, tested and installed it, all good.

couple simple shots. one of the gauges in the dark and the wheel. it's a 440 wheel, but i'm goin' with it for now, until i find a good 330 horn ring and center to use. spent the last three hours of the day mowing. first for the season and still very wet in the low areas.

I MUST say,that dash is breathtaking:icon_pray:

back at the shop, test fit fenders, deck, hood then block/prep. Talked to Joey Cole on tuesday. another month 'till the scoop is ready. gonna shoot the car and do the hood later...

Why wait? Last time I noticed, Domingo has '64 steel and aluminum Hemi scoops ready to ship.

I had one of Domingo's scoops, was not impressed with the quality, definitely not in the same league with Joey Cole's scoops although I did not have the long wait time to get it as you do with Joey. Another issue was the incorrect location of the mounting holes on Domingo's scoop even though he claims them to be exact copies of originals. I got an original and ended up with a bunch of extra holes in my hood that needed to be filled.

Thanks Hemlock. waiting doesn't bother me right now, there is a ton of other work to be done. I'll start getting a little anxious in a month or so...

finished the 400 wet sand and test fit some of the SS. should color shoot end of next week. I Wish everyone a happy and safe Memorial Day Weekend!!!
