using acetone & abs pipe shreds, worked awesome for fixing cracks & making fins, but takes DAYS to completely dry.

get some abs pipe from hardware store, cut it up in very small pieces, get a glass jar that seals good & mix the shavings with acetone,it takes time for it to melt, get it to where its like thin tooth paste. it works great!!!!!!!!!!

"Really" how about some pics of it, sounds interesting. Do you prep the plastic to be repaired the same way (acetone)?

1st i clean the plastic with zep purple degreaser ,then sand the area that is cracked, then gently pull the crack apart & used a q-tip with acetone, you have to wet the crack a few times, then push it together & let it dry ,then take the melted mixture with a Popsicle stick & cover the crack.to make a new fin dip the pop stick in the mixture let it partially dry & dip it again,do that a few times, let it set a few hours then take a razor blade & scap off your new fin,dab acetone on contact point & stick it on let it dry, then put some of the mixture on it,let that dry for a couple of days, the file to shape.YOU HAVE TO LET IT DRY FOR A FEW DAYS & BE PATIENT!!!!!

if you look at this close you can see on the pass side lower the grill has a bow to it,i took some flat thin steel strips & gently clamped it over the warped section, the heated it up & the let it cool.... WALLA no more bow

Amen to that, grill turned out great (pvc and acetone, who would have thunk it). That's going to be one sharp car when it's done, keep up the good work.

Nice work CDR! Thanks for the abs/acetone repair tip - that is really cool!

Great job on the grill - looks like a million bucks.

Sorry, got a little carried away with the typing (PVC probably wouldn't melt very good).

So THAT is what a million bucks look like! ;)

That does look great cdr!! top notch stuff for sure, sometimes looking at all you guys cars coming together that do have them in here (resto thread) i think that the word "awesome" just is to small of a word when it comes to the quality of work being done.

How'd you like that stuff? Mine was a mess, not like paint where it turns to dust quickly instead it sticks to stuff all the way across the garage. Nonetheless it does a great job.
