Hey Ron
That was my big job for this car, glad to have it done. If you look at the tail of the Corsair it says marine. Foam planes made overseas and they don't pay a lot of attension to detail on the stickers. The number is VFN-301. As I remeber, that would be fixed wing, Fighter, Nuclear. But for 100, still fun to fly.

Thanks Dave, I never had a model of the Corsair, but one of the gas powered ones i had I do remember it saying Marine on it but was called a Navy Corsair.. Maybe they both used it, Im not really up on them but i sure had fun with the gas powered ones when i was a lad on the farm!.. Lots of fun they were. Thanks! Sounds like progress on the car, continued good luck with it.

update, car stripped and sealed. All welding done and bodywork started. Tomorrow I am going to install trim clips and back glass. Also going to reinstall the trunk.

Getting back to the planes..this is the last one I built and flew. This is a video of its maiden flight. It was a Waco with a 3.2 cu.in. gas engine. The top wing was 96".

About a year later I sold all 11 planes and got into R/C sailing. The hull on this boat ws 89", the mast was 10' and the boat weighed about 65 pounds. The hull was fiberglass and purchased as a shell. All the bulkheads were hand cut and formed and the deck was hand laid Pine planks with a Cherry king plank in the center and Cherry planks on the gunnels...it took weeks to build the bulkheads and lay the deck. The photos were taken at "Mystic Seaport" during a National Races. If you haven't figured it out, my boat is #57 and its a J class boat.

Pretty much Dave most are using the newer style TX's that search freq. and you don't need as many channels, normally 3 are used unless you want to be able to trim then you use 4. When completed those boats sell for over $3500.00 so its worth the added expense. I also sailed and raced EC-12's (East Coast 12 meter) which is a smaller version with a 6' mast and 48 hull.

Very cool, little more expenses then planes. I use a Turnigy 9 channel radio for all my planes and helos.

I used JR's and was able to program most of my planes into the one radio. The boats use as different frequency...land/air. I think the Waco used like 6 servos including he smoke.

Thanks Ron, its hard to get an idea of the size but the prop on that plane was 22" long, made from wood and you started it by hand, just like to originals.

After it landed and whoever shut it off, i could see its much bigger then i thought, and a 22" prop, unreal. Honestly, i would have loved to been there and seen that, Those old time planes really look sharp, please, if you do any other videos, let me know, id be pleased to watch them! That smoke that came out was unreal, seen it done in real planes and remarkable to see it on a model.. By now im sure you know i don't know much of what you can do to them like that, Ok, im done hear with the plane i don't want to be hijacking Dave's thread, i had to remark on that video though, cool cool.. and my apologies to you Dave!

No problem, cool stuff. Saturday was a rain out and today everybody is going to Mardi gras festivals. So nothing new to report.

Me too Dave, no more on the planes...sorry.:violent1:

Update, remove the hood and R&R where the hinges mount. Cut out bad metal and TIG welded new metal in. Reinstalled the hold and got it all lined up.
