68 Super Bee project

I'm posting slot of pics, to get it up to date. These are the new trunk pan, extensions, rear support brace, and hangers. I had a little repair as well to the frame rail and tail panel. I know everyone knows this but AMD stuff is amazing! And if the rear support is removed the 1 piece floor will slide in there, pics are proof lol!

Pretty much up to date now. This past weekend I finished stripping my engine bay, and front cowl. Had a little rust to cut out, not much. A torch and small puffy knife handled the undercoating pretty quick. The vents have had layers of peeling paint since I got the car so not felt good to strip them down to bare metal. I purchased a rotisserie yesterday for a good deal so my next step is the hood, then on the rotisserie it goes!! The bottom shouldn't take to long since the floors and trunk are new. I'm getting excited about finally being able to spray color before long.

Found a better driver door last month at the Nats. I had repaired my original but the bottom lip and door shell was so bad I've never been happy with the outcome. So I bought it and it needed a little repair but not much. One sent and a little rust in the bottom corner. Got that all fixed and had to weld up and move the lock knob hole to the 68 spot( door was off a 69 or 70), and welded up the hole for the side mirror remote knob. Should have it slicked up and in epoxy by the end of the weekend. Hopefully get the car on the rotisserie next week!

Got a helping hand yesterday afternoon so we stripped the suspension. Hoping to put it on the rotisserie in a few days. Found a tip on here to remove torsion bars with a couple 2x4's. I must say it works very well. 5 licks and they came out with no scratches! Thanks FBBO

Noticed something that I thought was cool. I love figuring things out on these old cars, like why the factory did this or that. So while removing all the brackets and such from underneath my Bee I noticed the driver side exhaust hanger was bolted in while the passenger side is spot welded. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they did this because all cars had single exhaust (at least) on the passenger side while HP cars had duals which would require an additional hanger of course so it was bolted on as the bodies came down the line. It's like another piece of evidence of a true dual exhaust car. May be dumb but I like knowing the details of these things.

Haven't posted in a few weeks. Not much exciting to anybody else going on. Just scraping undercoating and a lot of cleaning to the undercarriage. It's getting close though. Hopefully get it sealed up underneath next week.

Trying to take advantage of some of the last 80 degree weather here in south Mississippi and get some spraying done. Got my floors and underside cleaned up and prepped. Wanted to be on the safe side so I sprayed 2 coats of rust bullet followed by 2 coats of epoxy. I'm gonna undercoat the car since it will be driven a good bit. So I'm trying to make it as bulletproof as possible underneath. I wish I'd had grey epoxy but had a brand new can of black so that's what it got.

Stripped all the rubber undercoating, grinded with a stripping wheel, wire wheel, and flap disk. Also used a spot blaster to clean up hard to reach areas. Sprayed the whole thing with metal blast, whiped it all down with wax and grease remover with a scotch pad and rag. And I had a quart of Eastwood black epoxy left from a job for a friend so I used it. It sprays pretty good and lays nice.

I'm waiting on my door hinges to get back from rebuild so I'm getting started on my rear end. Got it all pulled apart and now I'm wondering if I should put a sure grip in it . Car won't be raced much, mostly just driven and enjoyed. Any thought? Other than that once I get my hinges back I'll start putting it back together and lining it all up!!!
