What's it Worth 69 Charger 500

After going back and looking at stuff instead of going off memory I have to correct myself: Govier issues documents saying his list has 559 Charger 500's... so even more than 548. CRS is kicking in.

Of course, like everyone does, I will jack the price up $5k more and quote the 392 number when it comes time to sell mine.

One of my bucket list cars, love the 69 500 Chargers,
440 4 speed dana 60 car, w/chrome roadwheels
when I was looking still, they've recently been priced out of my range :BangHead:
white with black bucket seat interior, rally gauge w/tick-tock tach
no console & red tail stripe hardtop, solid body,
rough sitting outside under a trap for years
but a not running, a basket case (of sorts) was $25k, but 99% was there
that was the cheapest I found, after years of looking
anywhere near Tuolumne Co. down to the valley Sacramento Co.
& when the guy died, I had 1st right of refusal, on a hand shake deal,
we had sort of bonded, I talked with the guy a lot, go & sit & BS
& his widow knew too, that was her husbands wishes
but his kid/son, sort of estranged for years,
like 40-ish SF Bay Area dweeb/yuppie, suit & tie guy, said he wouldn't ever sell

I have to respect that, it was his dad's car

he the Old man, had his valued at $65k for insurance reasons,
I had a bit of time 100 hrs maybe, in the car, just to help the old guy out,
I enjoyed the time with the older gentleman, he supplied me with BBQ & Beer
I did it to help, maybe a lil' bit selfish if I could get the car, at a latter date...
The body & paint was done, that was a project in itself
& then it still sat for a couple years, his health failing
with the interior & all the trim, grill, decals & lights, fuel system sender & the tank,
cooling, brakes & plumbing, all needed to be replaced, from sitting for decades
& the matching numbers 440 4bbl Hemi 4 speed Dana 60 4.10:1
car,
I had cleaned up & checked out most of it re-gasketed & sealed,
most the stuff that needed it, trans, carb, Dana
all that still need to be gone thru
but it was all there, exhaust except the manifolds, was nonexistent, rusted
it'd been a $100k+ (ins. value) when done,
I'd assume he was accurate, he had it valued every step of the way for Ins.

He had mentioned the 392 cars built #s too,
I'm not 100% sure about the numbers
but he had some document, from Chrysler that said like 392 street versions
delivered as ordered, with another 120+
were "body in white", with engines installed from the factory,
part of the total #s built...
I'm still not sure what the real total #s were,
I have no way of getting ahold of the kid
his mother has died since & he/the son sold the repair shop
& property w/house up the hill/driveway
his parents had since 1955

You're actually an author aren't you. I can imagine you smoking a pipe clacking away on the typewriter lol
No offense meant, I love your stories
As to the 69 500... I'd pass up a nice RT to a ratty 500

Funny, years ago I tried to get a guy to trade me his ratty 500 for my really nice R/T... Zero interest..

I traded my 500 for the 70 V code Charger R/T.
