'69 charger r/t-se: Building my dream car

That iron-cast made your steering box look like a new one, ive used different stuff on things like that and never had them look quite as good as that stuff.. Another product to buy and try! Thanks.

Well here's some slightly better pics of the interior painted up. Was having trouble with my gun being clogged towards the end of the job so I ended up giving the whole thing another wet coat the next day with a clean gun. Pretty hard to get decent pics on my phone but I'm happy with how it came out

So today I'm gonna start tearing the grille apart, got it cleaned up and detail pics taken yesterday.

And a couple odds and ends to button up on the motor. Pretty soon the engine bay's gonna be a little less spacious

no body was home ..
was checking out the dairyqueen hotrod thing :eusa_shifty:

Yeah sorry Mike it's been pretty hit or miss on if I'm here or not lately, been working a lot and helping the other Mike on his Roadrunner. Hope you're doing good!

Thanks Ron! And just a tip when I do ironcast stuff like that or anything that's supposed to look like bare metal (front suspension parts), I like to use krylon flat or satin clear. Just give them a light dusting to keep them a little more protected

And glad I could help, BigBlock! :eek:ccasion14:

Thanks Charlie! I just sent ya a PM on some help I needed with pics of your grille too :icon_thumleft:

Well I'm knee-deep in the grille resto right now haha. After a lot of notes, pictures and labeling I got it completely taken apart and the headlight buckets and center section cleaned up ready for surgery. I'll be doing a full step by step on this little project soon as it's done, pretty tedious stuff but I'm moving right along

And a little better shot of the bottom end of the motor before I get the oil pan back on and button it up. Really excited to see how it runs

engine looks like it was just done, yes the grill is VERY tedious, keep at it,progress is a good thing.

Yep pretty much everything points to it being pretty much brand new, it was like Christmas morning when I pulled the oil pan off
:urkidding:
With the rotating assembly already being balanced and practically no miles on it, I think I'll be using this motor for my alluminum top end, procharged build with FAST fuel injection next year. But for now it's going in "as is" until I finish the rest of the car and get some long awaited seat time

Can almost smell the paint drying from here! Looking great. Awesome to see you moving along so well.

If you could I wouldn't be surprised, Chassis Saver smells like death lol. Thanks Will, if she comes out even half as mean as Skelator I'll be beyond stoked!

Slow down, I don't want to be the last one done LOL. Floors look great along with everything else and congrats on your Christmas present. Boy I wish I would have seen that when I opened mine up instead I had a water line that showed it had about 6" of water in it at one time. Looking good Speady

Prop has raised the bar, hasn't he.
Indeed he has.

Heck Fella's, the only bar I raised is the mini bar out of my cooler while camping out in the sticks last weekend..lol You're the folks pulling off all this meticulous work and are the ones that should be tooting you're own horns. Very spectacular work going on throughout the FBBO threads, including this one here. Thanks fella's.

Lol I wouldn't get too worried about that, I still got more than a few miles to go. Hoping to get it sealed, primed and driveable by Fall, painted towards the end of Fall and finish the interior and odds and ends over winter. I'll just be glad when I can finally hear it fire up :icon_pray:

One of the best bars to raise lol! But yeah Skelator along with all the other projects everyone's pouring their heart and soul into on this forum are a real inspiration, and a pleasure to watch come together and learn from along the way. Especially only being 21 and starting out not really knowing jack about Mopars, this site and the outstanding group of people on here have been awesome to get to know and learn from.

Well I got medieval on my grille last night, the section I was gonna try to repair ended up being quite a bit worse off than I thought. Basically cracked all over the place so I decided to transplant the entire section from my donor grille center. Gonna be one epic how-to post when I get done.

And my soundtrack for the surgery :icon_cool:

You were right in saying your grill was in worse shape than mine - nothing that you can't handle though. Your choice in music should help. Follow it up with some Kashmir and you will be set.

Wow . I'm interested to see how that surgery goes. I had a friend that paid over a G for a good used one. and that was 10 yrs ago.

Yeah it was pretty bad, I might try and save it and my donor grille sometime for fun, but for now it would've just been too big of a PITA to get every little crack epoxied back together and perfectly square. The way I'm going is a lot easier, I'm lucky I picked up that donor section.

Oh yeah, and maybe some stones thrown in for good measure

And yeah 68chicken, it's insane the price some of this stuff goes for. Poking around eBay I saw 200 for just the center "I" trim, 500 for just the metal frame, 2,000 for a complete grille, makes me glad mine is complete and fixable. The test fit of that section was perfect, so once I'm done hopefully you won't even be able to tell it was ever replaced
