'69 charger r/t-se: Building my dream car

Hey Speedy . . . what kind of "copious amount of caffeine" did you indulge in - you've made GREAT progress on the car and it's all done with CLASS ! !

Keep it up Speedy - we're all cheering you on to the first "fire-up" ! ! ! You're getting really close now ! ! !

We may need to change your name from Mr.SpeedFreak to SpeedyGonzales ! !

Great tech, Great update, Great pics ... the exhaust looks great and I like the key fob too. Way to go MR Speakfreak :)

Freakin Rock N' Roll man! She's getting close.

Best part is speedy takes great pics and videos so we're going to get some awesome footage when he starts it up and then when he takes it for a shakedown run out to that skid pad !!!

Man, thanks for all the kind words guys! They're all appreciated more than you know and having you guys along for this roller coaster ride has been awesome:icon_thumleft: Wish we all lived closer so you could all be here for the customary maiden-fire-up festivities lol
:eek:ccasion14:

Looking real sharp now Mr SF :headbang: That exhaust turned out great, and it will be a neat sound once you get it fired. My GTX has the same shape to the pipes with the X and Flowmasters - only difference is mine is 2-1/2" throughout.
Glad to hear your column is in now, they can be a real PITA on your own to install.
What was the final Muffler Choice? are those 40's?

Thanks Kiwi! I still remember that bad@ss burnout vid of your GTX, that thing sounds mean! And yeah Mike they're 40's, I ended up going with the flowmasters because my friend had them basically brand new and sitting around. So I'll be reporting back to you guys on how I like em, but Russ has them on his Roadrunner and said he doesn't have any drone issues so we'll see!

"Kick a$$" now that's some good progress. Your car is really coming together and the exhaust looks great "like the keychain". Congrats on getting the title taken care of :hello2:.

Thanks man! Definitely a weight off my shoulders having that done and in the clear. Now it's time to call up the original owner and get some old war stories on the car. And I'd like to say the fob was my idea but I stole it from Stuntman Mike's keys in the movie Death Proof lol!

Full speed ahead!!! :headbang:

Nah wasn't meant as a burn brother .. your video was good but I'm really looking forward to that ride along video you promised this spring :)

x2 on that!

Joe is too cool ... you are an old sole for sure brother :)

Listening now and i'm wondering how could anyone not love this song. Pat on back for myself I've exposed my children, twins 18 and son 23, to vintage music all their lives and they love and listen too it too :headbang:

I don't know if you saw my post suggesting that we post the songs that kick us in the rear and get us going but that's a good start. I tend to like allot of old stuff, Temptations, Rascals, CCR, Spencer Davis then the hair bands, Poison, Def Lepard, Ratt, Warrant and then there's the Heavier stuff like Disturbed, Volbeat, and Five Finger Death Punch. My first video I think was a bit to heavy for everyone haha "I'll choose something from my oldies next time". Good luck on firing

Damn Speedy - where do you find the time to get so much done. Everything is looking great. I am looking forward to when my dash assembly is in and all hooked up. Then it will be so much better when I sit behind the wheel making engine and shifting noises lol. :headbang:

LMAO H2E . . . Don't forget to add the windshield wipers on the inside of the windshield to clear off the spit from the engine noises ! ! ( SMILE )

So I'm not the only one that does that ! ! ! LMAO

LMAO, haha I used to do the same to but have a motor to listen to now.

Im smelling rubber burning and hearing rock in roll under the screams of the guy havin a ball in the cock pit!! Go GO GO! :3gears:

Lmao yeah I guess I need to get a driver's seat in now so I can get the full experience! But hopefully the real life 440 rumbling will be happening here shortly :icon_thumleft:

And I missed that post about posting the songs Devin but that's an awesome idea! We all have pretty similar taste in music it seems like so I'll have to start sharing my tunes more often
:eek:ccasion14:

Had a pretty busy weekend aside from the car with most of my family members sick with the flu that's been going around, but I did manage to do some research and planning and got my next order from Summit laid out. My wallet's gonna go up in flames tomorrow, but I'll be getting the QA1 stocker star rear shocks to match the fronts, dynamat xtreme, fuel pump to carb preformed fuel lines, engine and transmission dipsticks (would like to get the black lokar ones but they might be too expensive), Sparco steering wheel, and Grant hub adapter I'll have to modify to fit the Sparco bolt pattern. Actually it was kinda cool, Mr. Angry Mike Musto helped me out with a message on facebook telling me that's how he got the sparco wheel onto the chrysler collumn.

And while I'm waiting on that stuff to get here, I've gotten back to work on finishing my grille. Lucky for me 747 was nice enough to send me his old "I" beam trim for me to try and save since he got a brand spankin new set (again, a huge thank you! to you Devin!). It was pretty rough and in need of some serious love, but so far so good!

Here's basically what I started with, but after a bit of sanding and quality time in the bench vice:

And after a bit of intensive care:

Still have about 40% left to go before I can hit it with the buffer, but I'm keeping the faith this thing will make a full recovery (if I don't sand through this time haha). And I think it's pretty cool, if this resurrection works out, frankenstein will have a little piece of 747's Charger as part of the monster from now on
:eek:ccasion14:

You got skills Speedy, that already looks pretty damn good "Glad I could help". I don't know if all dipsticks are the same but I'd order the flexible Lokar one if I had it to do over (had to bend this one and it barely fits still). If insulating the floor I'd check into Bonded Logic from Summit, I used they're super mat and sticky stuff adhesive "allot more for your money", it is a little thick for doing doors but really nice stuff. Enjoy

Great job on the I-beam ( or H-beam if you look at it sideways (SMILE ) ) . . . and awesomeness from 747Mopar for adding his "part" to your Frankenstein ! ! !

How can you beat that - this group is the greatest when I see things like this - people helping each other out ! ! ! You're top notch 747Mopar ! ! !

Nice job on the I trim Speedy. I didn't know it was possible to bring those pieces back from the dead. After seeing yours, I never should have boughten a new set for my car. Live and learn I guess - at least I didn't throw my old set in the dumpster.

Wow Speedy, she sure is coming together fast. It's amazing what a little spit and polish can do. :)

You sure got a knack for this work! Great job. Hit her with the brown, grey then white compounds and that puppy will be shinning like chrome. Real nice of 747 to donate that to you. True car guys around here! Doing their own hard work and helping each other out. Much rather hang out with you fella's then sit and listen to a turn key car show junky brag about his #'s matching wiper blades and vintage floor mats.

Keep up the good work!
